MAXIMUM 4-1/2-in Backing Pad & Lock Threaded Arbor

A: • The MAXIMUM® 4-1/2” Backing Pad is used on 4-1/2” Grinder Only. • When using this backing pad it should be used only with fibre resin sanding disk • The fibre disk available at your local Canadian Tire is available in 4 grits depending on the sanding material. o 24Grit / 4 pack / 054-1800 – $9.49 o 50 Grit / 4 pack / 054-1801 – $9.49 o 80 Grit / 4 pack / 054-1802 – $9.49 o 120 Grit / 4 pack / 054-1803 – $9.49 How to Use: o To mount the backing pad on an angle grinder, first disconnect the angle grinder from the power source. o If there is a disk currently mounted on the angle grinder, remove the disk. o Before installing the backing pad, it is important that the backing washer on the angle grinder and the locking nut is removed and stored in a safe place for future use. o DO NOT REMOVE THE SAFETY GUARD ON THE ANGLE GRINDER. o Position the backing pad directly centred on the threaded spindle. o Place the fibre resin sanding disk on the face of the backing pad. o Using the locking nut that came with the backing pad, slowly thread on the locking nut with the flat side facing out. o Once you have the nut hand tightened, using the locking nut wrench that came with your angle grinder, position the wrench to the proper guide holes on the locking nut. o Press and hold the angle grinder spindle lock and using the angle grinder wrench, tighten the nut to securely tighten the fibre resin disk. o Once you have checked that the disk is secured, you can proceed to sand the material as intended. o Sanding should be done at about 0 – 5 degrees to the working source for optimal results. Note: The fibre resin disk used on an angle grinder produces very aggressive sanding, it is great for removal of corrosion, or paint removal on metal and caution should be used on wood, since it will cut into the wood aggressively as well.
