500 SQ FT IS A STRETCH

Great Heater.
I installed this heater in a garage that should be too big for this size heater. It is 500 Sq.Ft. but has 14 ft. Ceiling. This heater has no problem keeping the garage at 20 - 22 Deg. Cel. But the garage is very well insulated with a good quality garage door with good weatherstrip.
It runs quiet, and the fan moves a lot of air which eliminates any cool spots.
There is no thermostat included,, the unit is thermostatically protected from overheating.
I had no problems finding proper wire and a thermostat.
I highly recommend this heater, just remember that if your garage is not insulated, or the door allows drafts, the heater will not work as well.
A: Dernière réponse FAUSSE.
À 120 V, le moteur ne fonctionnerait probablement pas et serait endommagé et le chauffage serait de seulement le quart de la puissance, c.-à-d. de 1250 W.
Q: 5000W 240V 20A, really??? Can I put this on a 20 amp dedicated circuit without tripping the breaker?
Documentation states that this is 5000watts at 240volts, and that it is 20 amps. But I thought 240 x 20 = 4800 watts. Does this unit actually run at 5000 watts, or is it really more like 4800 watts (or less)?

A: In a DC power world you would be right with just voltage * current = power, but in an AC power world you have to take in to account the reactance of the load (capacitance or inductance) which changes the power factor of the load and therefore it's rated power. Also input power never equals output power, there are always losses.

Bonjour,
Le radiateur fonctionne bien, mais la fan ne s'arrête jamais, est-ce vraiment normal ? Après 6h, l'élément est froid, est-ce normal que la fan fonctionne toujours ??
Merci,

Q: How to wire 2 units through1 thermostat
My garage is almost 1,000 sq f so I'd like to run 2 units off 1 thermostat. Is this possible and how do I wire it?

A: It is possible. One way would be to buy a 120V (line voltage) t-stat and a 4pole contactor with a 120v coil. From the load side of your t-stat you would run to the coil of your contactor. Then your 2 "hot" wires for each heater would run through the 4pole contactor. An electrician would probably benefit you unless you're familiar with that stuff. Any electrician should be able to do this, doesnt need to be an industrial electrician.

Q: Why don't you stock a 5000 watt thermostat rated 30 amps to use with this unit? I can't find it at any store.

A: That is incorrect. The thermostat must be rated for 30A as well as the wire (minimum 10awg). Both wires will be carrying 5000W it makes no difference whether you disconnect one lead or both of them.

Q: What are the options for a thermostat
For the Mastercraft 5000w ceiling heater, what are the options for a themostat?
Having a hard time finding one that is rated for 5000w. Can find lots for 3000w.
Would prefer a digital display.

A: As long as the thermostat is rated for 240 VAC and 20 amps that would be sufficient since you are only switching one leg of the power. I am not aware of a digital display for that type of power. You may be refering to a low voltge thermostat which cannot be used.

A: this heater needs 240 volts not 110 you know that right so you need heavier wire
