The unit was defective and does not have a hole or opening for a lanyard like the ones a couple of years ago . That said , I was offered an exchange, without something to secure a lanyard too I declined the offer !

I bought this model to replace a ten year old Mastercraft model. Pros: The new model is illuminated. Cons: Impossible to remember the Emissivity table which makes it difficult to understand on how to correctly use the model. I miss the older model.

A: The margin of error on the unit is plus or minus 3 degrees. Normal body temp to fever is a difference of only 5 or6 degrees
