Q: Is this both PFOA and PTFE free? Very important as either of these will instantly kill parrots.

Q: Can a Bakelite knob withstand 450 F. Oven temp. I am wanting to purchase a cast iron Dutch oven but the item I am looking at has a Bakelite handle and I wonder if it will melt in high temp.

A: The knob should be oven safe to 350F/180C. However, we have 2 other Master Chef dutch ovens in our assortment that has a stainless steel knob and can withstand 475F – skus 142-3477 and 142-3478.

Q: Is the bottom coated smooth like the sides as to not scratch a glass top stove? Is the inside coated as well?

A: Hello, This MasterChef Dutch oven has an Enamel coating. The same has been FDA-tested and approved w.r.t food safety test.

Q: This dutch oven is technically rated to 475 F with the new steel handle on lid (references to bakelite seem very outdated). Has anyone used this pot up to 500F for making bread? I assume it could handle it but curious to know about other's experience.

A: I bake my bread at 475 and have baked at least a 100 loaves in this pot. This pot has performed perfectly and shows no sign of wear. I actually own two of them and bake two loaves at the same time. I recommend this pot for baking bread at 475.
