Q: why does this product not exist anywhere on the web ? It's not even on Magellan's website

A: pas trop difficile quand on a le bon lien le voici Log on to this link (please use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox), http://www.smartgpseco.com Log in using your Magellan credentials and connect your GPS to the computer (make sure it is turned on). On the upper part of the browser, click Update (beside Store). If you have not installed the Browser Device Plug In, select the "Download" button to install the plug in. Otherwise, skip to step 12. It will give you an option to either Run, Save, or Cancel. Click on Run, if you only see Save or Cancel, please save it first then select run once saved. You will be prompted to close all browser before installing the plug-in, close all the browser. Click on Install. Just follow the Installation Wizard then click Finish once the download is complete. Go to http://www.smartgpseco.com again. Log in using your Magellan online account. Connect your Magellan GPS to the computer using the supplied USB cable, make sure it is turned on. Wait for the unit to show the USB connected message. Should a window appear in your computer asking you to open folder or run content, just close the window. A quick confirmation will appear informing you that the device was registered successfully, click continue. Your unit will now be listed on the lower left corner of the browser, it also shows the serial number below the model number. Select the drop down arrow beside the model number for you to maximize the product information window. The serial number there should match the serial number of your GPS. Take note of the Software version (device) and the USCAN Routable Maps version under Maps and Subscriptions. Select the drop down arrow again to minimize the product information window. Under “Update” tab, make sure that the you scroll up to view the updates available under “Connected Device Updates”. Kindly download and install the Software Update first should there be an available Software Update. Otherwise, download and install the Map Update and proceed to step 22. Once it prompt you to disconnect the GPS, kindly disconnect your device and click Continue on the computer screen. Wait for the GPS to restart by itself. The GPS will display “Updating Uboot image”, then “Updating Wince image” and Magellan Spinning Wheel. Once it show the Map screen or Main Menu, reconnect the GPS and wait for a minute. Go back to “Update” tab, make sure that the you scroll up to view the updates available under “Connected Device Updates”. Select the Download button for the Map. Once the update has been completed, please disconnect your GPS and wait for the GPS to restart by itself. Kindly disconnect your GPS and click OK on the computer screen. Wait for the GPS to restart by itself. The GPS will show Magellan Spinning Wheel then Warning screen and proceed to Map screen. Once it show the Map screen or Main Menu, reconnect the GPS and wait for a minute. Select the drop down arrow beside the model number for you to maximize the product information window. Kindly check if it reflects the new Software version under Profile and Map version under Maps and Subscriptions. Note: Should you encounter any error message, please click the drop down arrow beside the error message and click “Retry”.

Q: Does this include road maps for USA?
12 years agoA: Maps included are for USA, Mexico and Canada. I only used mine on Vancouver Island and it couldn't take me to Cumberland from Courtenay! 7 mile trip.

Q: What is the "special warranty" on this product? The web site says "This product carries a special warranty. Please see your local Canadian Tire store for details". What is this "special warranty"?
11 years agoA: Special warranty means the product is covered under warranty for 1 year. The warranty does not cover broken or cracked screens or cases. If after a year you return the product and it is no longer carried by CT the customer must contact the vendor for replacement, if the product is still carried by CT it will be replaced.
