A: Yes, as you walk, the GPSr records where you have been. These are called "tracks".
You can have 50 tracks on the device at one time.
Using the free Vantagepoint software, you can store., manage, and edit tracks. As well as upload and download them from and to your GPSr

Q: does the Magellan Explorist 310 Handheld GPS come programmed with maps and everything for geocaching also can it also be used as a car gps?

A: The 310 is perfectly suited for geocaching. Basically, you go to the geocaching site, select geocaches you are interested in, and them download them to the 310.
As for maps, there are a variety of sources for maps. http://magicmaps.ca/ is a great spot to load free maps. Think of making a donation as they provide a great service.
Car GPS...no. It will show you where you are on the map, but you cannot use it to guide you through turns to get to a desination.

A: The eXplorist 310 does not have the ability to expand the memory by using a Micro SD card. However, the device does have internal memory to download maps. Visit the below website to view the eXplorist 310 page. Once there click on the maps and software tab to see maps that are compatible with the device.

A: Yes the GPS will record a breadcrumb trail that the user can save or use as a backtrack in order to get back to where they started.
The GPS also features a worldwide base map, so some of the major city centres and highways will be loaded. I am not exactly sure what is loaded for the Berlin area, but there will be some map detail displayed on the GPS.
