General Purpose Bits

These bits are great as general purpose bits. I have found that the holes that they drill are not the most precise and some of them are off by a few millimeters. If this is a problem for you then you should avoid this bits and look for something better. However if all you need is a good rough hole these pits will work fine. They also come with a handy extension and carrying case to keep them all together. For what I do these bits represent an incredible value and shouldnt be missed.

Jobmate standby for the weekend warrior!!!

I bought these on as good a sale as I've ever seen them. They are good and sturdy and the extension is in the clear to include the allan key lock. Stayed dead on in the larger sizes seems to wabble near the smaller edge of the spectrum on a regular Mastercraft PowerXchange drill. Great starter set that may be retired in the light of my brand new mastercraft set, but I have a brand bias as well.

Good set

It is a good set, despite its price point, and the storage pouch is great. I've even used it to drill holes in my motorcycle fender (metal) when shortening it, and needed holes for the electrical cables - went through it like it was butter.

Budget Spade Drill Set with Versatile Case

Spade drills are good quality for the price for occasional use. Not shop quality. Case is well designed, compact and portable. I have easily added a full set of standard drill bits in the elastic webbing between the spade bits to make it a comprehensive set.

Useless in a drill press

I purchased this set at full price because I needed a 1 3/8" bit for a project and liked the idea of having all the sizes. I found that the points on the larger bits were all out by 5mm! (I put the bits in a press, and the points made little 5mm circles even at low speed. The press is reasonably true because a long Mastercraft auger bit wobbled by under 1mm.) When I used the bit in a hand drill, the drill wobbled considerably, and created a slightly larger hole (my 1 3/8" was 1mm too large). Still, it was usable. In the press the workpiece shaked! Not fun. I returned the bits earlier today. Perhaps I got a bad batch of bits. If I purchased them on sale I probably would have kept them. The case is very nice, and it's almost worth $10....
