Product Details

The "Waterweld" off-white epoxy putty stick from J-B Weld is made for underwater repairs, effectively plugging, sealing leaks, and patching holes and cracks in almost any material. It's ideal for fixing plumbing, fuel tanks, tubs and showers, drains, pools and spas, boats, and potable water tanks. It sets quickly and can be worked on after an hour. The putty cures to an off-white colour and is available in a 57 g format.

Q: Is it OK to seal a small bathtub floor crack

A: With one caveat I am going to say yes. The puddy is water resistant; however it has been my experience that constant contact with water it will begin to break down over time. Make sure that you sand the affected area prior to sealing the crack - 120 grit sandpaper or greater will work. To waterproof the seal, I recommend painting with porcelain paint which CTC carries (15 ml containers, colour match). Allow a minimum of 24 hours to allow the puddy to set prior to painting and another 24 hours for the paint to fully set.

Q: Can this be used to fill a small hole in a plastic (HDPE) grey water tank. My trailer has a small hole in the grey water tank after I hit some debris on the road (1 mm by 1 mm) and I need to plug and seal it. Will this work?

A: I think it should work pretty well, if possible rough the plastic up with sandpaper or file around the hole and degrease it. I have used it on plastic and it sticks alright.

A: Sorry, my answer is in french. You can translate with application. J'ai utilisé le produit sur un réservoir à essence de scie à chaine. Après plus d'un an d'utilisation, aucune fuite, le produit devient dure comme de la céramique. Ma réponse, le produit va sûrement régler le problème sur le chauffe-eau du spa. Il faut suivre les instructions à la lettre et laisser le produit devenir très dure avant de réutiliser. Il y a aussi des vidéos pour aider (voir youtube) .

Q: Will this work to seal a narrow cut in the top of a Hayward S244 Pool Sand Filter? The cut is on the top edge running into the neck of the opening of the filter. A gasket for the top mount control valve sits on top that needs to form a airtight seal.

A: No it will not. Those filter are made of Polypropylene and is very hard to bond.
