The people saying that this thing works must own the marketting company. The manufacturer claims 20,000 rpm. It stalls when you get close to anything. What else would you expect from two little AAA batteries. Free would be too expensive.

General Cordless Precision Engraver. Hard to believe some people find this product actually works, unless I got a defective unit. This thing barely etches jello. Does not mark steel, even with a light touch, motor stops.

Q: Can i use it on pewter?

A: I've never tried engraving pewter but I'm pretty sure the diamond bit will do the job. If you're thinking of getting really elaborate or really fine lines, I'd change the bit for a more finer grit than the one included. Hope that helps.

A: Most definitely if it's just for quick marking jobs BUT if you're thinking of any detailed carving or harder, exotic woods, I'd change the bit to a high-speed carver. "Grit-type" bits are slower in material removal as opposed to mini "blade-type" bit configurations run at higher speeds. I'd sooner use an AC rotary tool which can run at substantially higher RPM's for that anyway.
