Q: I have a bird feeder over part of my garden and need to add soil under the feeder as soil is getting low due to having to remove soil where bird seed has fallen. What should I get? I am not growing anything, no grass or flowers, I just want plain dirt.

Q: My bird feeder sits over part of my garden bed and I want a soil that I can add to the bed. I am not growing anything under the bird feeder so I just want plain soil. Do you recommend this or the Garden Club Black Earth?

A: If u r not planting, normal soil is fine. You will not get any nutrients in this soil, but u will get wood chunks and simple dirt. I would get the cheapest possible.

A: I use it for mine and have had no problem yet (topsoil, sand, moss, leaf litter, pea gravel mix), theres lots of wood and the occasional trash ive found but otherwise OK. its the closest thing i can find for plain topsoil in canada bc lol

Q: Would it be good as top dressing on lawn for reseeding, my lawn feels very hard? Hi, I am looking for a topsoil product to top dressing my lawn and reseed on top of it to correct my thin and bare lawn which is very hard on the surface. Thanks.

A: This soil would work fine for you! Please note that your success will depend on making sure you prep the area properly. 1. Rake the area removing any of the dead or dying grass. 2. Also try and break the hard surfaced area to allow better seed penetration with a stiff rake. 3. Mix seed in a wheel barrow with the top soil prior to applying to the area 4. Tamp down the newly applied area ensuring proper seed contact with soil. 5. Finally lightly rake the newly applied area breaking the compaction that occurred as a result of tamping. 6. Keep it moist!

Q: Are there synthetic feetilizers in this? Can I use it to grow organic vegetables?

A: Circle H Farms Top Soil is a great all-purpose soil amendment that is ready to use. This is a rich blend of Peat moss, humus, and lime, which does not include a fertilizer charge. Therefore it would be fine to use with organic gardening. It may be used throughout your whole garden, for trees, shrubs, flowers & vegetable gardens. To enhance the soil quality and the look of all your garden beds, spread Circle H Farms Top Soil evenly over the garden bed and till in to a depth of 3 - 5 cm. For beds with existing plants, be careful not to damage existing roots.
