Very pleased!

We bought this about a year ago. Unlike other reviews, I found the instructions straight forward and easy to follow. Everything went together as expected and the unit was easy to light. The back wheels make it super easy to manoeuvre on the deck. We’ve had many comfortable evenings outside over the summer.

Yes, I recommend this product.

what a horrible product to put together

My wife bought me this patio heather for me for Fathers Day ... I'm not sure what I did to deserve it but I am truly Sorry Sweetheart ... the instruction manual has a suggested assembly time of 40 minutes ... totally untrue ... the manual makes no sense and this heater took every bit of my soul to eventually put it together ,,, I just finished putting it together and I don't have it in me to try and see if it works ... we are having a trial separation for a couple of days before I try and light it ... hopefully it works or else it will find itself in the lake behind our house ...

No, I do not recommend this product.

Very cool (hot) but poorly executed product

In couples therapy they always impress that it's best to start off with the positive before skewering your partner with the really nasty stuff, so here goes... First, let me say that my family and I enjoyed our new Flame Patio Heater this past Saturday evening as it cut some of the chill in the evening spring air and allowed us to thoroughly enjoy an outdoor BBQ experience. Unlike conventional patio heaters, this one is really very pretty as it shoots a flame up the glass chimney. Hence the word, 'flame,' in its title. No successful relationship was ever built without hard work and my relationship with the Flame Patio Heater is no exception. It comes well packaged as you would expect from a product whose provenance is somewhere in China. It's cheaper than products from recognizable companies like Napoleon, but at [the retail price], it's still real money. The unit looks nice from a few feet away but the materials are super cheaply made. It has a flashy stainless steel look but upon closer inspection, it seems only a few thousands of an inch thicker than a Coke can! Even some of the bolts didn't thread properly because they are so crudely made. The bigger problem; however, and one that nearly drove me to divorce my new Flame Patio Heater is the instruction manual (should say, misinformation manual). It sucks. It's horrid. It's unintelligible in any language. My wife is an engineer and she even certified that it sucks. It's not only impossible to follow; it doesn't make any sense. It has errors throughout, and if not for the aforementioned wife engineer, it would currently be in pieces at the return desk at our local Canadian Tire. We finally got it put together and installed a brand new 20lb tank of propane gas to light/heat up the night. Here's the rub: running it at medium high for two hours used up nearly half the tank of propane! That's about $10 worth of gas for one dinner. Don't read me wrong, the family BBQ was memorable, and you can't really put a price on memories with the kiddos, but still! Maybe that's simply the cost of having a vertical flame thrower in the backyard but I'm a little taken aback. I honestly would not have bought this gem if I knew it was such a pig on gas and so hard to assemble. Bad for the environment for sure. Bad for my pea-brain and wallet too!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Heater will not stay lit. I need a new Thermocouple ( Part 31). Can I get it at the store or do I have to get it through the manufacturer?

  • A: Having same issue and I have tried to clean the thermocouple. Let me guess, you can ignite the pilot flame but when you hold for the recommended 15 sec or longer them release to turn on, the flame extinguishes. Correct? Normally cleaning does the trick as this detects the presence of flame before allowing the gas valve to stay open on use. Were you able to figure out

Q: Can this item be store outside over the winter? We live in Alberta with cold winters. Can this be stored outdoors over the cold months??

1 Answer
  • A: The heater can be stored outside. But store the heater upright in an area sheltered from direct contact with inclement weather (such as rain, sleet, hail, snow, dust and debris). If stored for a long period, please use a cover to protect the heater and help prevent buildup in air passages.
