Worked great in the beginning

My v2040 quit vacuuming the air out of the bag, I’ve tried everything including reversing the seal, nothing seems to work.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Latches Break Easily

Received this as a Christmas gift recently, and after just a few weeks of use the latches on both sides have broke off and no longer hold the lid shut to allow a seal.
I am aware this is an older model, but we just received it and got a large number of foodsaver brand sealing bags and rolls to go with it. I have already put in a support request with this information as well, but figured I would make a review as well. I would have reviewed the unit on the US foodsaver.com but this model is not listed there at all for some reason.
If I put a ton of pressure on the lid and hold it shut myself I can still get it to vacuum and seal, but this is an absolute pain, and that is probably not good for the life of the product.
Other than the latches which broke so quickly everything else is like new. Very disappointing. :(

Closing latch broken days after purchasing

The plastic latch that locks the top down broke on the right side with in days of owning this sealer. It’s been like that for years now. I have to hold the top down for it to work... what a pain in the rear.

I have owned this unit for a number of years
I quit vacuuming unless you press down on the top about 3”inches in from the ends latch on the right side would not stay latched have looked on line for new seals and right hand latch but cant find for the v2040 models hope the new one works better

was very surprised to see most of the reviews I have had my unit for years and it has been through quite a few boxes of bags worth of food without any problems until now and I think simple fix, appears the black strip over the heater has shifted and the bags do not seal in the same place, just wrote FS we will see if there service is a good as the machine.
Yes, I recommend this product.

A: you can use either brand, both are thick plastic made to do the same thing. I have used both.
