EGO Power+ 21-in Rubber Broom Attachment

I'm amazed at how well the rubber paddles held up while using this to kick gravel back into a driveway that is 1/4 mile long. The downside is that this tool is very heavy, and works best in "pull" mode rather than push. To use it comfortably for more than 10 minutes, I had to flip it over so I was pulling the debris toward me... But of course the guard doesn't work in this direction, so it was flipping rocks at me. I was able to detach and flip the guard over, but this is definitely a design flaw. Wheels might help, designing the guard differently could also help. For the next design iteration, please have the designers use it through a full battery charge to assess true usability.

The rubber broom attachment does a great job removing gravel from and debris from my yard but it is heavy! It did the job 5-10x faster but I am going to look for a set of support wheels because I am cleaning hundreds of feet of driveway. I wish Ego made support wheels but as far as I know they do not. With all of that said I would not go back to a rack, the rubber broom attachment is so much faster.

Of the dozen Ego Power products this rubber power broom is the first bad product I’ve used. The tool is unwieldy, heavy and dangerously powerful. The balance is poor adding to the difficulty in controlling the tool. I weigh 240 lbs and have no problem, for example, handling 50 lb bags of stone. I tried to use the tool on my dry driveway and the kickback was intense and quickly tiring. It’s easy to catch the rubber fins on the edge of a sidewalk, curb, pavement edge, etc which multiplies the kickback. At one point I was nearly knocked to the ground. I ended up using my leg up against the handle to push the broom forward. I also stood behind the tool and place the battery in my stomach to push the broom. The broom is a monster when in comes to effectively clearing dirt, debris, rocks, small children, etc. But, as designed it’s unsafe to use. I note that other makers of power brooms include wheels that sit behind the spinning drum. Not only would such a design help bear the weight of the Ego tool but also help keep the tool at a shallow angle. I purchased the attachment for my wife but she wisely declined to try it. Unfortunately, I’ll be returning the power broom. Of note: I tried using one of my shoulder straps from another Ego tool and also batteries with lower amperage; neither of which helped. I also watched several YouTube videos of people using the tool to make sure I was using it correctly. I’m sure that if I was using the tool on a wet surface it might have been easier to control but wetting all surfaces is impractical.
