Great upgrade for my old 688k

I was looking for a fan to upgrade my decade old Broan 688k and this one fit perfectly without cutting any holes or doing any hvac or electric stuff. I just had to remove the old fan module from the housing and snap this one back in. It is noticeably quieter than the 688k without being too quiet. It is the Goldilocks of quietness. The grill is about the same size but feels a little more flexible and easier to install.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Adapted to fit with old housing.

Couldn't find anything that fit the existing housing. So used this fan and bolted it to the old fan plate. Works great without compromising the electrical components.

Q: does this fan have a 3 or 4 inch opening for exhausting?

A: The exhaust outlet has a 2 15/16 or 3" OD depending on how accurately you can measure. If using flexible insulated ducting, I'm confident that difference would be negligible once foil tape is used to seal it.

A: Hello Jacky, thank you for your inquiry! E050 is today's version of the EC50, however, the housing size is different between the two fans. So, the parts are not interchangeable. Please contact us at 1-800-567-3855 for further assistance.

Q: How many hours could this fan run before it would be expected to fail? How long in a day could this fan run before it would affect the overall time/function of the fan?

A: I purchased this fan assembly to replace the motor in an older same brand/same CFM fan. The previous unit ran frequently daily since the house was built in 1993. I do run it with a timer switch that has a maximum setting of 1 hour. This timer has been in use for the past 12 years. Overall a fairly durable fan.
