The Coleman 100 Watt, 12V Crystalline Solar Panel 2-pack provides efficient off-grid power. Each high-efficiency panel outputs 100 watts and 5.8 amps for RV, cabin, and remote use. Designed for permanent roof installation, the rugged, weatherproof solar panels have aluminum frames and shatterproof glass. Built-in diodes prevent reverse battery discharge. Do not come with brackets to mount them had to buy separately from another source, other then that they have been good so far. Got them 60% off

A: The 100W solar panel 2pk is for off-grid power battery charging installations. This is not a kit to reduce your hydro costs.

Q: Extensions wires available? I need more extension wires for my setup. Do you sell them separately? This need is in addition to the extension wires that came with the panels.

A: No extensions are offered for this type of solar panel as the junction boxes are equipped with 12AWG stripped wire and no connections. These solar panels are designed for our range of high efficiency solar charge controllers that only accept a bare wire connection. You can purchase standard 12AWG wire from any electrical retailer and make a weatherproofed splice, or purchase through your local Canadian Tire a 8-1 Solar Power Hub. This Power Hub will parallel connect these two panels to produce 200W.

Q: Why do I need a 30 amp charge controller? If each panel only puts out 5.8 amps, why do I need a 30 amp charge controller? i.e. 5.8 + 5.8 = 11.6 Thanks

A: The 30 Amp controller will allow you to see the data regarding your solar panel input as this is a larger system. The 30 amp unit also has Pulse Width Modulation Technology which can add life to the battery bank. In addition, you can add upwards of 450W of solar as opposed to purchasing a new controller to upgrade in the event new panels are purchased.

Q: Are the black plastic corner pieces just for shipping? All of my 100 watt panels came with black plastic corner pieces. Are these UV protected? Are they intended to stay on or be removed?

A: The Coleman 100W Crystalline Solar Panel corners are simply to protect the corners and are meant to stay on the panel. The panels are well protected from the elements.

A: The size of your batteries and inverter will depend on your application, in other words, what you plan to run. For a small cabin with minimal power requirements, a 1000W inverter and a couple of 12V batteries can provide appropriate capacity for basic needs.
