CCM Alpha Dual Suspension , Mountain Bike, For Adults,29-in

Product Details

The CCM Alpha 29" Dual Suspension Mountain Bike is a dual suspension bike that can roll with the big boys. The large wheel size provides increased stability and great rollover performance, allowing you to get over larger obstacles without a problem. Taking cues from its hard tail brother, the 29er, the Alpha shares some of the same parts like the Suntour suspension fork, Shimano EZ-Fire shifters and derailleurs and alloy crank set. This makes for a great package when hitting the trails. You won't want to stop when riding the Alpha, but the dual-disc brakes will certainly ensure that you do when you need to.

  • CCM Alpha Dual Suspension Mountain Bike with an 18" (45.7 cm) aluminum frame

  • 29" (73.6 cm) wheels

Lots of features for price, but quality lacking

Very stylish bike, and great for the price, especially considering I bought it on special. The rear suspension is a detriment when going uphill in the dirt; the rear wheel will skip and not provide traction. In retrospect, I should have gotten something with no rear suspension, or with a proper damper. Quality: Another review said the bottom bracket cannot be changed. That is technically incorrect. However, it turns out the bottom bracket on my bike was cross-threaded from the factory, making it extremely difficult to replace. I'm going to guess that was the case for that other person as well. Fortunately, my bicycle repairman was able to rethread the hole and put a quality replacement part. The factory plastic pedals were very cheap, and so are the plastic brake levers whose ends have chipped off.

Outstanding bike for the price.

Outstanding average quality bike for overweight people (over 230lbs) but not limited to. Had this bike for almost 10 years now. Not much used , maybe little over 1000km , but not any issues at all. Used even during snow conditions , good grip, but not reccoended due to salt on the road, rust points appeared if not cleaned properly.Proven solid bike but let s faced , not for real mounting hiking.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Bad assembly service (Canadian Tire)!

This mountain bike is very good. I had some problems with the shock (squeaking), and the both shifters (failling). All the parts were okay, the problem is how the bikes are assembled. My guess: Canadian Tire doesn't have good training program to employees or CT doesn't care about it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: new brakes? i want to put hydraulic disk brakes on this bike because you have more stopping power and i use my bike in the winter so i wouldn't have to de-thaw them all the time also does Canadian tire carry kits i could get for them and the oil and sering's?

  • A: these bikes are not designed for them.. the mounting points are different. Hydraulic brakes WILL NOT give you more stopping power just more ability to "feather" the braking power to get over technical trails... something you would never use a department store bike for..they are simply not robust enough. to Purchase the calipers $200-300..lines and hand levers $100.. pads $40 bucks for front and rear. And on the icing up thing... hydraulics can ice up as well
