Q: Is this suitable for smooth surface table like glass/countertop? I’m trying to find placemat that wouldn't easily slide.

A: Yes, I used the mats on a glass table top on Christmas Day. Not only do they stay in place but the silver edging adds a little sparkle. And also I washed them in a sink with dish soap after use & they came out just fine.
