Great product but needs improvement

Great little flash light and tent light, I use it exclusively for my tent and it gives plenty of lights to get around in the tent. I like to leave it on while on I am not even in the tent and as soon as it gets dark.
Love the rechargeable via USB but it would be like if it it was using the micro or mini USB at the flash light end.
Battery life could be improve because a full charge will only last 3 hours at low setting.
The hand crank is hard work to get a few minutes of lights and I only use it as last resource which is a nice backup if you don't have a plug near by.

pretty good camping light

We bought one of these lights last year to take tenting with us. It really worked pretty good, lots of light for its size, sufficient to light up the interior of our tent.
On the 'cons' side it would have been nice if it had a larger charge capactiy [longer effective lighting time]
On the 'pros' side, it is compact and light weight.
To answer the question of charging without cranking, we have a charger that goes into our car's power point and has two USB outputs, bought it for charging cell phones, but works on many other things too [including this light].
We also use this unit in our home for an emergency light for power outages.
So, overall it is a good light for the price point and works good, but limited in short lighting time per charge.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Broadstone Multipurpose camp light review

What an ingenious idea to create a lantern and flashlight into one. Broadstone has done a fanstanic job combining all your needs into one and being power smart at the same time.
I purchased this lantern for this years camping trips after I got tired of constantly buying kerosene and having to maintain my coleman lamp. I'm very glad I did. The broadstone camp lamp has enough luminescence to light up an entire tent when both lantern and flashlight are on maximum setting. The plastic is very durable and takes a beating, and the hang clamp is very useful as well.
We got approximatley 2 hours of use out of this unit when using just the lantern fuction. One unfortunate and what could be seen as a BIG drawback is that to recharge you need a usb port, which, if not bringing a laptop camping..... (defeats the point of camping) you will have to hand crank this light to recharge it, and believe it it was a workout.
That complaint aside, if and when they do make another, please include a cigarette lighter charger or wall outlet charger option instead of usb. This is one of the best camping purchases I've made and great to have in case of earthquake or power out in the off season.

A: It actually depends how much power the USB port you're using can produce. For example using an iPad charger will charge faster then connecting to a laptop.

Q: What are the specifications of the rechargeable battery? What type (ie. Ni-Cad or NiMh) and dimension are the dry cells, what is their capacity, and how are they connected (ie. hard wired or q-d connector, such as a cordless phone battery has)?

Q: How many Lumens are produced at the high and low flashlight settings? The packaging only specifies the lumen output for one setting, 13 lumens for low lantern. Presumably high lantern puts out 26 lumens. Is the high flashlight output 17 lumens or 40 lumens?

A: Lantern Low setting: 13 lumens. Lantern High Setting: 40 lumens. Flashlight Low Setting: 5 lumens. Flashlight High Setting: 10 lumens.

Q: What is the run time on a full charge on the high and low FLASHLIGHT settings? How long will the flashlight function run on a full charge when either 3 or 5 LEDs are lit?

A: Flashlight runtime when fully charged: Low setting: 300min, High setting: 180min. Lantern runtime when fully charged: Low setting: 150min, High setting: 80min.

Q: High and Low settings? I don't understand the high and low settings for the lantern... unless they mean high = both lantern and flashlight functions on, and low = just the flashlight or lantern part on????

A: Each light function function has two light settings. The Lantern function has a low and high setting. The low setting lights up half of the LED’s, and the high setting lights up all the LEDS. The Flashlight also has two light settings, low and high. The low setting is dimmer light than the high setting.

Q: How long does it take to charge this? I've had this plugged into a USB port to charge for well over 24 hours now, and the light still shows red. When will it be fully charged?

A: On average, it takes my light approximately 2 hours to fully charge. Unfortunately I believe the light is simply signifying that it is in fact charging and does not automatically turn off one done.
