Rusted.

12 years ago

I realize that this is an inexpensive canning rack, particularly compared to some of the fancy-shmancy racks available, but it still shouldn't have rusted during the 2nd season of moderate use. I'm disappointed. I'll be buying one of the stainless steel racks, at a higher price, to replace this.

Decent canning rack but could be better

I bought this canning rack (mostly due to it being my only option at the CT store) last year and it's been decent. The only major flaw that I've found with it is the coating over the steel has started to come off, revealing the steel and is now rusting. I wish this could have been stainless steel, so it would have been easier to take care of -- the coating is peeling off and not sure if I should take it all off and spray it with something or not. Also, I've found that this rack is quite big and only fits in a very large stock pot - wish there were two sizes to choose. I have opted for another rack - a silicon trivet that is adjustable in size and can fit in smaller pots and won't rust.

keeps cans from banging

this works, doesnt fit my pot exactly but seems to keep the cans off the ground and sides from banging when the water is boiling. does the job. a little hard to manouvre!
