Good Product - Insufficient Directions

This awning seems well made and quite attractive; the installation instructions, on the other hand, are not There are very limited written instructions, only illustrations and NO MEASUREMENTS given regarding bracket placement, or clearance requirements. I believe there are levelling adjustments; but no instructions on how to make adjustments. The instructions say a MINIMUM of three persons are required to mount this item; however, I am a pretty handy guy and I was able to figure out how to make my application work and did the installation by myself, but, I would not recommend this item for the average novice DIYer. One last little rant; the assembly mounts on two U brackets and is bolted into place. One would think the bolts should mount with the nuts on the bottom of the bracket so that even if the nut worked loose, the bolt would keep the assembly in place...One would be incorrect; the bolts only fit from the bottom up. I replaced the nuts provided with lock nuts.

Dimensions misleading

I had a deck space of 97.5 inches to work with (have side walls on each side of my deck). When I measured the awning (bracket to bracket) it was 98", therefore it would not fit. Bummer, it said 8 feet which would have been perfect. I would have so enjoyed the use of this awning. If there is an 8 feet (bracket to bracket) awning please advise so I can buy one.

An ABSOLUTE Pain

I guess I just got 2 bad awnings..I really liked the idea of awning versus gazebo this time round but once they are up, it is too difficult to take them down and return, as not in box any longer..I bought 2 of the 12 x 10 awnings to cover deck..instructions hard to make out, bolts broke when tightening so had to improvise-and drill out bolts -therefore cannot keep at a good height when rolled out...they take on a lot of water even when tarp is tight and tilted--arms do not go back in and stick out when awning rolled up..no help to fix this and cannot get them corrected..

No, I do not recommend this product.

A: It is water resistant as well as any fabric patio umbrella can be. It is not recommended for heavy rains.

Q: Can this be mounted to the side of a trailer?

A: NO. It is recommended to install the product on concrete walls. If it is necessary to install the product on a brick wall, install the expanding bolts directly in the bricks without using the mortar. Other types of surfaces, e.g. wood or plasterboard, are not strong enough to support this product. This product is not stable enough to be installed on these surfaces, especially in windy, rainy, or snowy conditions.

A: The supplier and Canadian Tire do not carry the replacement canopy for this awnings. The supplier also does not recommend that customers try replacing the canopy on their own as it could cause damage to the product or lead to potential injury.
