This product doesn't even come close to the current output displayed on the product label attached to said product. That's all that needs to be said.

It works well.. But you can hear it working

The good is that it works, and provides voltage pretty much bang on (Measured unloaded with a multimeter, 7.50V and 5.02V tested measurements). Equipment hooked up to it works as expected.
The bad.
You can hear it working, especially at lower loads.
One device at 5V (Fast Ethernet Router), would be slightly noisey when only 1 -2 clients connected, but was silent once 4 + connected and there was a larger load.
My other device, 7.5V (Gigabit switch, 4 devices connected), makes this adapter screech. You can hear it from across the room.
Amusingly enough (moreso annoyingly), when you place your hand on the adapter the noise goes away instantly.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: I have a keyboard that required 9-12V @ 800 amps. Would this product cause any damage to my device if it were used at 12V? Is it necessary/possible to regulate the amps output? My device requires 9-12V @ 800 amps.

A: Alden Design Universal Power Adapter at 9 and 12V DC maximum output is 1.7 AMP (i.e. 1700 mA). Please check your keyboard DC power input requirements. Set the voltage selector switch in the Universal Power Adapter to match your keyboard input DC voltage. This Adapter has a digital circuitry. It detects connecting device's amperage requirement to limit the output.

A: Alden Design Universal Adapter polarity is non-reversible. Inner contact is positive. Outer contact is negative. You can also refer to marking on the adapter top surface for reference.

A: Yes, Alden Design Universal Power Adapter can be used to charge a rechargeable kids car which original cord specifies for 12V, 1000mA charger input. Set the voltage selector switch at the unit’s back side to 12V. Pick the come with plug tip which matches the kids car charger input. You are ready to recharge the unit.

Q: i need to replace an ac/dc adapter with 5.5V --- 800mA Does this universal adapter include these specs? This is for my Harmony One universal remote charger as mine broke.

A: Alden Design Universal Power Adapter output in DC 3, 4.2, 5, 6, 7.5V maximum 2.1A, DC 9 & 12V maximum 1.7A. It is unusual for an ac/dc adapter of 5.5V. Please re-check and confirm output voltage.

A: Alden Design Universal Power Adapter has a voltage selector switch at the unit's back side, lower section. DC output voltages are 3, 4.2, 5, 6, 7.5, 9 and 12V.

A: Alden Design Universal Power Adapter comes with 8 plug tips. 6 circular, a Micro & a Mini USB. Outer & inner diameter in mm of the 6 circular tips are, 5.5 / 2.5, 5.5 / 2.1, 4.75 / 1.75, 4.0 / 1.7, 3.5 / 1.35, 2.35 / 0.75. Type H plug tip is 3.5 / 1.35 mm which is including in the tip set.
