Inexpensive calculator -- does not work all the time

Purchased it in two colors on sale. Beware that this calculator does not work under poor lighting. It needs lighting to power on. There is no battery backup to allow it to work without lighting.

Doesn't work!

I bought this not knowing it was solar powered. So when I first tried, it wouldn't work. After I put it in the sun for a few hours, it worked but only for a little while because the moment I put it on the table (out of sunlight) it stopped working again. Unless I bring the calculator back into sunlight it just wouldn't work. Totally useless!
