Firestone Destination LE2 All Season Tire For Truck & SUV

Came with my 2021 Toyota Tacoma. Did 32 000 Km on pave road (mostly with a 3000 lbs trailer). 2 are useless at 6/32 and 2 at 8/32…. Because I don’t want to change them in the middle of the season, I changed them now… Disappointed I did only a year

These tires came with my 2018 Toyota Tacoma. They were manufactured on the 7th week of 2018. By summer 2021, they were hardened and would lose grip in the rain quite easily. They are more noisy than my winter tires (Michelin X-Ice), given these are only on during the few months of summer and stored in a shed over winter, there is no reason for these tires to become so hard and useless so quickly. Thread wear is great of course, because a hard tire is not going to wear, just send you into a ditch/rear end of another car.

I have had these Firestone Destinations 225/60R17on my Jeep Cherokee for 7 + years now. I only run them in summer as I run Bridgestone Blizzack's in the winter. This is a good tire and I had to replace one as I hit a curb. Tire and tread wear was still good on the others so I searched for "one tire". Canadian Tire always had good pricing when ever I had to shop around for rubber.

I drive a 2007 Mercedes Benz ML350 4Matic. My family has owned this vehicle since new. This vehicle was factory equipped with Mercedes Benz MO spec Michelin tires. I always check and correct my tire pressure and I got 30000 miles from these tires. I was already used to the modest life from Mercedes OEM tires. I then went to a Continental DWS all season performance tire. The ride improved dramatically, but three sidewalls failed, one within 30 days. So after 30000 comfortable, yet troubling miles, I switched to the Continental LX20 tire. The tire was durable, handling was excellent, but the ride was terrible. So after nearly 60000 miles, they were retired. They would have lasted longer, but a worn front left suspension bushing caused excessive wear in one tire. So next, not wanting to spend over $1200 on a set of tires for a vehicle with nearly 120000 miles on it, I chose the Firestone Destination LE2. This tire is comfortable, handles well in all normal conditions, is decent in snow, and shows little wear after more than 15000 miles. Plus, it's very affordable. It is a great value. I am satisfied. Now I wouldn't necessarily compare them to a Pirelli or Continental MO spec grand touring tire, but those tires are 2x the price and will last half as long. Mercedes Benz prioritizes "performance" over longevity. Their definition of performance is safety, comfort, quiet, and predictable handling and braking in wet and dry conditions. Longevity is never a concern for them. Driver's of Japanese vehicles are always angered and astonished that they only get 15000-18000 miles from Mercedes OEM tires, especially when they are used to 60000 from their previous vehicle. First, Mercedes Benz is a luxury vehicle manufacturer and prioritizes comfort when calculating recommended tire pressure. Inside the fuel door at the recommended cold tire pressures for normal load and full load. When driving over 100mph, the recommendation is add 4psi. The vehicle placard with the Vehicle Identification Number and inflation pressure for the maximum Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) is located on the driver's side B pillar as required by Federal Law. Most manufacturers ONLY provide this information for tire pressure, which always results in a harsher ride than necessary, but legally protects the manufacturer. I say all of this because it is important to understand the context of my review. If you have read this far, thank you. Just as Mercedes Benz is very specific about their recommended tire pressure, they are just as specific that the tire pressure be set when cold and checked manually with a high quality tire pressure gauge. This means checking and correcting tire pressure at ambient temperature weekly. This also requires spending about $20 or more on a gauge. The only way to ensure that the cold tire pressure is truly cold is to park the vehicle OUTSIDE, not in a garage and check and correct the pressure early in the morning before driving and before any sunlight contacts the tires. Direct sun will heat a tire more than 5 psi in a very short time, so first light is the only time to set pressure. I have both a workshop compressor and a 12 volt vehicle powered compressor. So for me, adding air is not a problem. I always recommend that you have a 12 volt compressor, as it's helpful at home and especially when traveling. If you don't, that's fine. Check the pressure in EACH tire early one morning. Write down the readings. If ok, then you are done. If too high, because ambient temperatures have increased, say from winter to spring, then release a bit of air with your new gauge, and set to factory recommendations. If too low, then add enough air at the end of the day at a service station, say factory recommend psi +5psi, let sit overnight, and correct early the following morning. This procedure always results in the correct cold tire pressure and maximum tire life. And one final note: Ignore every review from anyone complaining about the life of an OEM tire. They are built to OEM specifications and while sharing the name of the aftermarket replacement tire, they are not the same, nor is there any treadwear warranty on OEM tires.

I've always had Firestones on my vehicles . Always the standard for reliability and long life. In 2018 I purchased a new Tacoma 4wd. Was delighted to see that this tire was oem equipment. Fast forward to 26,500 miles. They need to be replaced soon. Tread depths from 2mm to 4mm. Completely unacceptable for a tire rated up to 60K. The very next week after purchase, my wife purchased a highlander. It's oem tire was Michelin. She got 62,000 + miles on a similar tread rating. Comfortable driving tire, but I can't afford to be getting new tires every 30k miles.
