Which is better: coffee grinds or coffee pods?

Choosing between the two will ultimately depend on personal preference. Whether you’re a coffee drinker who wants their caffeine fix in minutes or someone who loves the ritual of making their brew the old-fashioned way, Canadian Tire has ground coffee and coffee pods for every coffee lover.

What are the pros and cons of coffee pods?

The advantages of using coffee pods include convenience, efficiency, consistency in flavour and ease of use. The biggest downside is the environmental impact, since not all brands make their capsules biodegradable or easily recyclable. Another disadvantage is that you can only use certain pods for specific coffee machines.

Are there refillable coffee pods?
Yes, you can find reusable coffee pod filters from Keurig and Café Cup in our selection.

Can I recycle coffee pods?

It’s important to check with your local recycling regulations since not all municipalities will accept coffee pod plastic. Many pods are recyclable, as long as you sort the plastic, aluminum and coffee grounds and recycle and compost them separately.

What's the difference between coffee and espresso?

The main difference is in the brewing method. Espresso is super-concentrated coffee that’s made using high water pressure and finely ground beans. Coffee is brewed slowly and with less pressure.

Is espresso stronger than coffee?

A standard drip coffee has more caffeine than a shot of espresso. Espresso has a higher level of caffeine per ounce, but coffee has more caffeine per serving.

Can you use coffee pods to make espresso?

Yes, you can use a single-serve espresso maker to make espresso with coffee pods. However, a single-serve coffee maker doesn’t produce enough pressure to produce true espresso.
