Best way to move snow, save your back and heart!

Warning: clearing snow is a workout. Even using a snow blower requires vigorous use of your arms and legs. Unless you live in one of Canada's two snow belts, a snow blower is only useful about once or twice a year. The good ones are expensive, are a waste of gas for 2cms but still take up significant space in a garage. Clearing snow with any shovel is easy the first couple snow-falls, its the last two months of winter that can be challenging as snow banks rise. Snow removal solutions that don't "scrape to the asphalt” cause ice build up requiring salt. Spending any time or money to fix ice build up is a sign of wasted time or money with the snow removal. This shovel avoids ever using, bending or twisting your back. Youtube "snow sleigh" to see how to create snow ramps to be able to "throw" 200lbs of snow just by walking. The benefit of a snow scoop is managing where the snow ends up. The piles can be shaped and ramped to facilitate the next dump or even piled in a location away, using a few more steps. That's the benefit of a snow sleigh that "throwing" snow doesn't provide. This specific yardworks snow scoop has all the best qualities you want in a snow sleigh. For a clean scrape, a slight tilt forward will do the trick. The scoop has a front lip that prevents snow in the scoop from just sliding right out. The ridges on the bottom allow for straight push up the snow ramps so you're not using forcing navigation. Those ridges go right up the back of the scoop so packed snow can dump out easier. A full scoop can weigh 200lbs depending on the snow. The handle is elevated in the middle, so if you don't weight much like me, just tuck the handle to your abdomen to help push. Then I can bend my knees to lower my core and push the dump off the end of the ramp. I keep the shovel out in the cold to avoid snow sticking to the surface. I added some hockey stick tape to the handles for a layer of grip and to avoid direct contact with cold metal. One detail I really like is the price.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

J'ai fait l'acquisition de cette pelle à neige et elle fonctionne très bien. Il faut bien la manipuler, bonne grandeur pour un travail moyen.

    Not great

After the winter we have had in Northern Ontario, I needed a new snow float --- the old ones I purchased in 2001 when we bought the house were shattered literally ... they had been put to the test. I had no choice but to buy this one as it is the only one in stock in the 6 stores within 100 km of my house. The arm or handle for the old snow floats went right down the plastic body of the snow float giving it stability so you could 'steer' it better. With this one, the arms only go a short way down the sides and when trying to steer there is not control and it tends to twist rather than fight the snow. It is great for little amounts of snow - but when you get to the big jobs like we get in N. Ontario, it can get you through in a bind - but I wouldn't buy it again
