The hatchet is good and sturdy, had some issues with the dry hardwood, so I will sharpen it for kindling, all is all it was a good purchase.

Q: Can this cut old wood I.G. dead bush roots and 4"width branch of small bush ?

A: 057-5142 small hatchet is for cutting the branch with diameter no longer than 2". For cutting the old dead roots and 4" width branch, heavy axe 057-5140 & 057-5144 are more recommended. For Splitting firewood, chopper and maul 057-5146, 057-5137 & 057-5145 are better.
