Just PERFECT for studio apartment
Pros :
- easy to setup if you install in normal windows
- has nice features
- Make my apartment cold in minutes
- remote control and LCD indicator
Cons :
- if you a small guy and live in 3rd floor above with stairs, you will have good exercises to carry this cool stuff into your apartment
- you need another extension if you plan to hook it into sliding door or 6 ft tall window
- little bit noisy ( acceptable for us )
Overall : Worth it to buy !!!!!!

Works great!

This works very well for us in the summer. It is best for confined rooms, we tried it in a more open space and it is just not powerful enough to cool the whole area. Quite loud but you get used to it.

Keeps us cool!

We purchased this at the beginning of the summer and I am so happy that we got it. We live in an apartment with odd sized windows so traditional window ac units do not work. I love that this is portable and we can move it from room to room if we like, that the vent fits nicely in the window and does not damage anything at all. And best of all it cools off our two bedroom apt nicely and the electric bills are not skyhigh
Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: IS THIS AN AUTOMATIC EVAPORATIVE UNIT OR DOES IT HAVE A DRAIN BUCKET?
HAS ANYONE BOUGHT ONE OF THESE YET??

5 Answers
A: It has an internal reservoir that you drain by pulling a plug midway up the rear of the unit and letting the water drain into a pail. It also has a hose for floor drains.

Q: I am wondering whether this unit will function on a normal electrical outlet or does it need a special surge?
3 Answers
A: They recommend putting it on a separate circuit, but I haven't had any problems anywhere in the house. Keep in mind it draws upwards of 1000 watts when in maximum cooling operation, so don't put it on a heavily loaded outlet, or on a light duty extension cord. Stores sell heavy duty single outlet extension cords for this purpose.

Q: Noise Level
How loud does this unit typically get? Is it louder than say, your average desk fan?

2 Answers
A: Yes, indeed, it is louder than a desk fan. I have had to increase the volume of my tv and I cannot use my telephone in the same room when the unit is on full cool/fan.

Q: How long does it operate without the need of water draining?
Will I have to wake up in the middle of the night to drain the water ?
Thanks,

A: It depends on the humidity in the air. Normally, the air conditioner will spray the water on the condenser, which will evaporate outside the room. During humid weather, the unit will indicate that it needs draining. Some customers have reported that this takes approximately 15 hours; some experience more frequent draining times.

Q: Does this unit need an exhaust to a window to exhaust out hot air??
2 Answers
A: Yes. It comes with a exhaust hose (looks like your typical clothes dryer hose) that you connect to the window to vent hot air.
Mind you this is not a dual hose unit.

Q: 2 locations for draining-primary & secondary.I always use the secondary drain (top one) and just placed a bucket under and it worked great - no hose needed. easy! Now water does not come out of that drain and I have to use hose (primary) a real pain..WHY?
1 Answer
A: This unit is designed to be "waterless"(self evaporating), and won't require draining under normal usage conditions. Condensed water will be evaporated outside through the air exhaust hose.
If the environment humidity is extremely high, the water container goes full, Water Full light will on, then need to drain the water.
Water does not come out of secondary drain now, It might be blocked by dirt or the water pump malfunction. Please clear the top filter and use crabstick wrapped by gauze to clear the outlet. If still doesn't work. Then must be water pump malfunction.
