I bought this lock 7 years ago. It was pretty straightforward to install. It's in a condo, so the door temperature never varies, but batteries last me 2 months. It is supposed to warn you when the battery is low, but it doesn't.
I recently bought a Garrison lock on sale, and it did not work at all. From now on, I'll stick to name brands.

I hate leaving keys with a cleaner and have cat sitters and neighbors pop in to check the cat while I'm out on business trips.
One code for them that I can change if need be and another I use for myself.
A perfect complement to my lifestyle!

Excellent lock

I installed this one a year ago and it has been perfect, the family loves it. Installation went smoothly, there was an installation guide in the package but strangely there was no user guide so I had to go on-line for more info. Battery life is excellent, I am using NiMh AA's and they last for months. Too bad they only go on sale once a year it seems.

Waste of a trip

Just got this home took off old dead bolt and the instructions told me to check the key in the lock... THE KEY DOESN'T TURN! I am choked!. what a waste of time and energy. DO NOT BUY. I have to now put everything back together and start all over again!.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: does it work upside down? the window frame is 3 inches above the middle of the hole, so it would not fit right side up. so does it work upside down?

A: Unfortunately the design of this motor-driven product is not compatible with an “upside down” installation. If there is an alternate exterior door that does not present this challenge, you may want to consider that door for the installation of the Weiser SmartCode Deadbolt..

A: The vertical height of the interior plate / panel cover on the SmartCode electronic deadbolt is 7 ¼ inches (or 184 mm). Most of the plate is located above the cross bore (or above the hole in the face of the door). The bottom of the plate is located at 1 ¾ inches from the centre of the hole, while the top of the plate is located at 5 ½ inches above the centre of the hole
