Wrong place for a phone holder

This was a gift to me. It was given because I was temporarily having trouble with the sticky-gel-pad type of dashboard phone holder I have long used. I will be returning this because I cannot imagine giving up a cup holder to use as a phone holder. Also, I want my phone to be at eye level, not down where I have to take my eyes off the road to see it. WeatherTech has a great reputation and makes other great products. This CupPhone is probably very well made, but I think it is an ill-conceived idea.
