Paintstick EZ Roller

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The roller was used on a new room that we and applied primer and two coats of paint on the walls. The roller was easy to load and applied the paint very well with very few drips applied the paint very uniformly. However the cleanup was very time consuming as the roller had to be taken completely apart. You have to make sure the cleanup area is an area where no small parts will be lost. Otherwise the roller will apply paint quickly and easily with a minimum of mess. The cleanup is a little tedious.

Yes, I recommend this product.

The Wagner PaintStick EZ Roller is a Game Changer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used this for a full basement project with Valspar PRO PVA primer followed by Sherwin-Williams Cashmere and it genuinely impressed me. The PaintStick makes priming fast and clean, feeding paint directly through the roller and cutting down on trips to the tray dramatically. For the Cashmere topcoat, I'm particular about even coverage, so I ran the roller through a tray first just to make sure the nap was perfectly loaded before topping off from the stick. Small extra step, totally my preference, not a product limitation. Pick up a few extra rollers before you start; swapping them out mid-job is quick and keeps things moving. The walls came out smooth and consistent. If you've got large surface areas to cover, this tool will save you serious time and effort. Highly recommend.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Works Perfectly

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This roller is very simple to use and seems to work perfectly. It is very simple to operate and control the paint flow. Filling it up is as simple as pushing the pick-up tube in and pulling the plunger back. The clear body allows you to easily see how much paint you have left in the roller and know when to refill. The seals all seem to hold up well and not leak any paint. Overall this is a solid roller and I will be using it on future jobs and will be recommending it to others.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Works nice, clean-up is a mess.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the PaintStick EZ Roller to paint the underside of a set of eaves (see photo). Day was sunny, low humidity and temperature was in the 70's. There was not much assembly involved but the instructions were clear and well written. Attaching the fill tube to the can of paint was easy as was drawing the paint into the paintstick. It was surprising how much paint it took until the roller was saturated. I had started off with the tube maybe one quarter to one third full and almost all of this was compressed into the roller assembly. The paint was applied easily. The PaintStick was a little to short for me. Someone painting a ceiling would still need a stepladder. Clean-up was not fun. The instructions were clear but neglected to say that quite a lot. of paint would remain in the roller assembly even after withdrawing the plunger so as to suck out remaining paint. I think a lot more suction would be needed to remove the paint from the roller and roller assembly. I disassembled everything and ran water through the parts until the water flowed clear. I suspect flushing the part out "five times" as per the instructions would have been grossly inadequate. I do not recall the cleanup instructions mentioning cleaning up the petroleum jelly. Petroleum jelly and rubber gaskets do not go well together. In order to preserve the life of the gaskets, the jelly should be cleaned off.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Didn't work for me, but...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am very short (< 5' height), with small hands and not very strong. Although this roller looked cheaply made with mostly plastic parts, I appreciated that it was not heavy, the thick handle still fit nicely in my hands, and the roller felt sturdy. Unfortunately, I found it difficult to paint with it for three reasons. First, the filler straw was too short for my paint can (5 gal). Pictured here is the smaller can I ended up using (2 gal). You can see that the straw was still 3-4" from the bottom of the can. It would have been great if the length was adjustable for when we're using a full can or trying to use up the last of the paint in a can. Second, I could not get the straw to fit into the roller and almost broke the straw. All the other parts seemed sturdy as I said earlier, but the black filler straw was flimsy. I realized that the asterisk-shaped seal on the brush handle had not been previously opened before. I had to use an Xacto knife to cut open the tags on that connector. The straw attached a bit more smoothly then. But I was covered in paint by that point and hadn't even started painting yet! Third, I pulled the syringe back to suction paint into the handle and ended up with a palm full of some oily substance. I'm allergic to petroleum jelly, so I had to stop and scrub the oils off my hands as they were getting itchy. Was really uncomfortable. I ultimately decided not to paint today because I didn't think the paint should mix with oils in the tube. It was a shame

No, I do not recommend this product.
