⭐☆☆☆☆ I sacrificed my prized McCain’s chocolate cake—yes, the McCain’s chocolate cake—as bait for this trap. A bold move. A noble move. A completely useless move. Woke up the next morning to find nothing but a few tiny crumbs… like some sort of dessert crime scene. The mouse devoured the entire cake, escaped without a trace, and is probably out there right now living his best life with a full belly and zero consequences. This isn’t a mouse trap. It’s a five-star dining experience with an easy exit. I didn’t catch a mouse—I hosted a banquet.

Thank you for sharing this experience—while we appreciate the humor, we understand how frustrating it is when the trap doesn’t perform as expected.

With the Victor® Multi-Trap Live-Catch Mouse Trap, if mice are able to access bait without being captured, it is often related to placement or setup. For best results, we recommend placing the trap flush against a wall where mice typically travel, with the entrance holes aligned along that path. Mice naturally follow walls, so positioning is key.

Additionally, using a small amount of bait (such as peanut butter) placed toward the back of the trap can help ensure the mouse fully enters and triggers the mechanism, rather than grabbing food from near the entrance. Also, make sure the trap is placed on a flat, stable surface so the internal mechanism works properly.
