drive train issue's

so we purchased this blower thinking it was going to be the Kink Kong of blowers. purchase in August of 2015. The winter (15-16) we had very little to no snow and i used it once. now this winter (16-17) we have snow and i would say at this point (its January) i have approx 10 hours in TOTAL use on this machine. The forward and reverse both do not work great, very jittery, and has been progressively getting worse with each use. Finally it would not move so i removed the bottom inspection cover to find shreds of rubber laying in the bottom of the cover. Also as far as handling goes you have to be a Very fit person because this blower is heavy and clumbsy. The only 2 Pro"s is that the blower starts good and it does blow snow a fair diistance( when it moves!) i would like Canadian tire / Troy-Bilt to repair this Blower (under a full Warrenty or give me my money back on this unit.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great product!

This is the 'Cadillac' of snow blowers! Got this for my hubby and he just loves it. Easy to work. Hubby added the Snow Thrower Cabin to it and is able to blow snow even when the wind blows. We have had many snow blowers over our 43 year history and hubby is so happy with this one. The addition of the cabin is strongly suggested to add comfort to blowing the snow. With the amount of snow we have had this winter this blower was well worth the investment.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Two years later - no problems

Bought this unit instead of the bigger one due to the negative comments. I have a 1/4 mile driveway from the main highway to the cottage and can get a path wide enough for a full size pickup in four passes in about two hours. That is even if there is more than a foot of snow. I have blown snow as high as the housing and have to slow down from 2nd to 1st. I wish there was a 1-1/2 speed. Starts reliably, shears pins now and again, but that's the price you pay for hiittng hard snow. This thing will eat a packed snowmobile trail from the road on the second pass and chews right down to the gravel. Make sure to set the guide shoes down at least 3/4". Tossed a few big stones with is, but don't recommend that, you will eventually break something. Treat it well, it will work hard for you.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Worst snow blower ever

Unless you really like repairing your snow blower a lot don't even think about purchasing one of these. Unit is not aligned properly, engine section is 1" out of alignment with blower. Reassembly after a belt change, which is every couple of usages, requires a two or three man crew. "Power steering" works great if your Paul Bunyon! But it sure starts good!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Questions

Q: Snowblower Horsepower Snowblowers and lawn mowers are now rated by engine size or gross torque. What is the horsepower of these engines? How can you compare to an older snowblower - which is rated by horsepower, and not engine size?

3 Answers
  • A: Horse power is NOT determined by the cubic centimers of displacement within the engine. Yes engine size does play a roll in power, but that "formula" has NOTHING to do with horse power.

1 Answer
  • A: If the spiral at the bottom of the chute directional control is not properly engaging with the chute assembly, the chute bracket can be adjusted. To do so, loosen the two nuts which secure the chute bracket and reposition it slightly. Then retighten the nuts. This adjustment is described in the operator’s manual. Please see attached picture
