Buyer Beware
Screen started flickering once it was past warranty. Customer support is non-existent, be it phone or email. They simply do not get back to you, although they make a big deal of Made in the USA in their marketing.

4Sight dash cam
Camera was satisfactory for about 6 months, then the power cord broke right where the wire bends after it comes out of the camera plug. Causes intermittent use if it works at all. Can't find a cord to fit!

Problem with power cord
There is a bad connection with the power cord constantly losing power and shutting the camera off. A little bump in the road or if you lightly touch the cord it loses power and shuts off. Requires special software compatible only with PC, no Macs, tablets or phone etc. to watch the videos on you sd card. No chance of catching a licence plate number with this camera unless you are stopped behind a car at a stop light. Police need the licence plate number to do anything so pretty much makes this camera useless.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Such a great dash cam!

This is the second 4Sight dash cam I purchase and this one is for my son. The one I have in my car works exceptional well. Really easy to watch saved videos on my computer.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Beware a short life!
When I first installed the dash cam it was problem free, it activated upon ignition and everything worked as it should. It even was useful when some one claimed I cut them off in traffic and got rear ended. iCBC accepted the video clip with the rear facing and forward views telling the complete story, no argument, case closed. The product features were fantastic. I even updated it by adding a GPS option. About a year into its daily use it started to act up, not staying on and then loosing the time settings. It powered itself off and on by itself after it had time to charge up. The unit also continued to discharge itself after the car was switched off through the cigarette lighter power cord. When I ran into a traffic incident and tried to access the files I found it wasn't working with only some videos being made. The unit was only working part time. This became totally unreliable, and unpredictable. Beware of this unit if you need something reliable! I attempted to get assistance from the manufacturer and was pleasantly surprised at their relatively immediate email responses. However, with their limited electronics technical knowledge, and unwillingness to replace the unit which had expired by time the problem was really discovered - buyers should be aware of the quality of these products. On sale I thought this would be a good kdeal, except you don't expect it to be replaced after a years usage. I checked out a lot of the competitive products at the time and there is definitely a quality feel difference in these products . This product initially was not on my good feel for product quality, but the added feature of 2 cameras for a little more money, and the item on sale sold it. You get what you pay for. I will not recommend or consider these "cheaper" made products going forward. Keep in mind this was not an inexpensive purchase but when you look at the build quality and feel the plastic it lasted only as long as what I was fearing - not very long! I'm now looking at another brand of dash cam, the build feel is a lot better, hopefully this will last. If this dash camera had the support of the manufacturer I would definitely recommend this model, but they don't so do not waste you money!

Q: Can it be set up to keep recording even though Im not driving ? for example when I stop at a parking lot to go shopping in the mall, will it keep rec?

A: Not designed to operate that way unless your cigarette lighter outlet is always on, which is not the case for any new car. If you wanted to do that you would have to have a secondary source or setup which requires some knowledge about electronics, so not to affect your electrical / battery system.

Q: Car security
I primarily need this when my car is parked to video vandals. Can I get a secondary power source so the camera will run when the car is turned off for an extended period of time? The specs say that it has motion detection

A: The camera does come with motion detection, however we would suggest an external battery chargers as they would work with the dash cam and provide the added battery source.

Q: In what format does it records?
1 Answer
A: The Original Dash Cam 2 formats the memory card in such a way that it takes over the 4Sight.exe file which captures both video streams from the two lenses, and will include GPS information if a GPS antenna is used. No known codec at the time supported both GPS and Video capture, so The Original Dash Cam 2 records in a proprietary format. However, you can export uncompressed AVI files from the memory card once running the application on a Windows machine.
