Not sure why this bike pedals keep breaking

Bought this bike as a city bike to get backinto shape. Would take it for a ride about 3 times and the pedals would break. Now on my third set of pedals. Store tried to charge me last time for them. If it wouldn't always be in the shop, it would be a great bike.

No, I do not recommend this product.

This is actually 6 speed?

The chain touches the derailleur of the crankset on the first day when I bought it. And I was told this is normal, because if I change the rear gear, I have to change the front gear accordingly which means this 21 speed would be actually 6 speed and other 15 gears are too noisy to use.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great bike at a great price

Bought this bike to ride around town on the weekends and was really pleased. I got a great deal on it at 50% off and it looks like a professional high-end bike. Rides great so far. Light weight and great in the looks department. Buying another one today as a gift for my brother-in-law.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Good as a beater bike

It does the job as a short commuter and I would recommend it for running errands in high theft areas like downtown because it wouldn't be the end of the world if someone steals it. It is not a fast bike (even after professional tune-ups) and I routinely get passed by 5 out of 10 cyclists riding it. Once I spent $400 upgrading to a used but ACTUAL road bike the difference is night and day.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Good Value.

The frame is a little on the small side for anyone taller then 6 foot. Brakes, wheels, gearset, shifters, and seat are of reasonable quality. Also metal pedals. Only complaint is the stem for handlebars is short by about 2 inches for my preferred setup. At discount this bike is very good value.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Tube size? What are the tube sizes appropriate for this bike?

  • A: the original bike has 700c x 28 tires; standard for a road bike is 700c x 23c, so this is a little wider. If you switched to cross bike tires (a skinny version of a mountain bike tire), it would be great for the trails, and faster than a mountain bike.

Q: What is the front axle size? I want to change the front axle from solid to hollow in order to install a quick release. What is the front axle size?

  • A: I installed a regular aluminum rim with quick release--no change needed. The old rims are a little wider, so you just have to screw it in a little further.
