This garbage can is a pain. First you cannot install a bag with the handle....Second, if you have a husband like me then the top of your garbage can will soon be broken off. Ours broke in about two months after someone tried to use the plastic lid to force it down with more recycling in it because we have alot of recycling. Looks nice until the plastic top gets broken off. Needs something to prevent the back of the device from scraping on the wall. Left scars on our wooden cabinet it was stored beside. We use two of these one for garbage and one for recycling.

We use for recycling. Tidy, the step to open mechanism feels a little loose, but so far is working fine. Removable insert is very handy.

A: 24L step bin does not have slow down system, it has a plastic cover and therefore is not necessary.

Q: Who makes this trash can? The hinges for the cover - are they made of plastic?

A: It is made by an Offshore vendor. Part of the hinge is made of plastic and part is made of wire. See attached picture below.
