A Great carrier option

I bought this at the last minute when I discovered we had too much luggage. It was on sale. It survived well through a snowstorm, 700 km to Indiana, then another 700 km in the cold return trip. Take along some duct tape to tape the strap ends or they bang against the car. I only have 2 luggage rails so I held four of the straps in the car doors, which kept the luggage in place.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great Value for Money

For those considering aerodynamics and fuel consumption compared to other rooftop carriers: I drove a 5000 km trip, first without the bag and then 5000 km back with it installed. My car fuel consumption increased by 0.2 litres/100 km i.e. 2 litres of gas for every 1000 km. 5 Star for Value

Yes, I recommend this product.

Well priced extra storage

Great buy! This well-priced cargo bag provides just the right amount of extra storage space for the family getaways. It was so easy to install and remove so there's no need to drive around with a roof carrier all year long for those few occasions it's needed!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Is a roof rack required? I own a sunfire without a roof rack and was wondering if this carrier is able to fit onto the car. Can you buy extra straps that would allow you to do so or is a roof rack a requirement?

  • A: You need a roof rack to use this device. The nylon strap needs to wrap around the side rails and cross bars

Q: Lockable? Secure? Within reason (short of someone cutting the side of it open with a knife) is this secure... for example can it be removed with the car doors closed? also can you put a lock on the zippers?

  • A: You can put a lock on the zippers to stop someone from opening the bag ; however ; the entire bag can be removed even if the doors are locked. It only attaches with clips to the roof rack

Q: Using the Sports Rack without sidebars The Sport Rack box say that compression straps attach to "raised side rails or to raised crossbars." However, the information sheet only shows attachment to side rails.

  • A: The sherpa is to be attached with 4 compression straps ( 2 per side rail ) and 4 compression straps ( 2 per cross bar ). I honestly did not read the instructions, but to be 100% secure , I would use all 8

Q: What else is needed to mount on a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe?

1 Answer
  • A: This cargo bag (and other Thule or SportRack models) will require a complete roof rack system to mount to your 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe. Unfortunately, there is no SportRack complete roof rack system available and ready to go. Your vehicle will require a custom system from Thule that can be ordered via Special Order at the Auto Service and Parts desk from your local Canadian Tire. You will require: Thule 460 Foot Pack; Thule LB50 Load Bars; Thule 3024 Fit Kit, and Thule 544 Lock Cores to complete your roof rack system.

Q: Will this fit a 2006 Nissan X Trail with just factory side roof bars?

1 Answer
  • A: This cargo bag will fit a 2006 Nissan X-Trail, but you will require a complete roof rack system that includes cross bars. We carry a SportRack Frontier complete roof rack system that fits your factory raised rails to complete the system, available from your local Canadian Tire as Product #040-1085. This cross bar system is necessary as the bag needs to be secured on all four sides to eliminate front-to-back and side-to-side movement during travel on the road.

Q: Will this work on 2007 Dodge Nitro Our Dodge Nitro only has side rails on the roof rack. Will this work on our vehicle?

1 Answer
  • A: In order to mount any roof bag that we currently carry, you will require a full roof rack system with cross-bars on your side rails. The Dodge Nitro has fixed rails and the cross-bar system is only available from your local dealer.
