Product Details

Solvable Methyl Hydrate helps prevent gas line from freezing and can be used for multiple de-icing, cleaning and thinning uses. It has a low freeze point and is suitable to protect gas line in cold temperatures down to -97.7°C. Its 99.9% pure formula easily cleans tough stains on glass, metal, carpet, leather, asphalt and many other surfaces, and it effectively cleans paint brushes and rollers.

  • Solvable Methyl Hydrate's low freeze point makes it the best option to prevent gas lines from freezing in Canada's harshest winters. It can also be used for many de-icing applications as it effectively dissolves water and melts ice

  • Solvable works on wine and coffee spills, superglue, putty, sticky residue, and more - so you don't have to

  • Solvable Methyl Hydrate's ready-to-use 99.9% pure formula thins shellac, effectively cleans and removes the most stubborn stains; from superglue and other adhesives from most surfaces

Q: Can this product help remove the thin white hard water stains on glass shower doors? Nothing else has worked so far (baking soda, vinegar, CLR, magic eraser, wet automotive sandpaper)

1 Answer
  • A: Are you sure it’s water stains? Why I ask is that I have very hard water in my house, I use CLR but sometimes several applications. Would not recommend sand paper at all, will turn it foggy. I don’t have glass shower doors but have seen people apply Rain-X to them to avoid water marks. Same stuff you apply to a car windshield. Look it up on YouTube. Good luck!

Q: Can this product be used to remove tacky uncured epoxy from a floor?

1 Answer
  • A: If this is to remove epoxy from wood or concrete floor, Methyl Hydrate is not recommended. It is recommended to use acetone to help removing the epoxy. Acetone should loosen the epoxy and make it easy to peel. You also consider the utilization of paint stripper with caution. Note that it is recommended to test in a hidden area to ensure that the surface itself is not damaged by the treatment.

Q: does methyl hydrate damage rubbers, plastics and paints? and how long would it take for the damage start?

1 Answer
  • A: Methyl Hydrate can be used as a paint thinner and can also be used to dissolve gum and resins. The Methyl hydrate won’t have much effect on dried oil based paint, however it will soften dried latex paint. Based on this information, I would suggest not to use it on painted surfaces or rubber. There is not data that suggests an average time for how long it would take for damage to start as it would depend on how the product is applied and the amount used and other variables.

Q: whats the difference between this and the heavy duty stuff also found on the website by searching methyl hydrate?

1 Answer
  • A: The heavy Duty product is for the commercial market and applications. It is only available in one size due to the volume of product used in this market segment. This Methyl Hydrate product is for consumer projects and is available in smaller sizes do to various uses. While both products claim 99.9% pure Methyl Hydrate this indicates that there is no recycled Methyl Hydrate material used in the product.
