Like most of the reviews indicate, this doesn’t work. I watered my plant (soaked it) and 20 minutes later it read “Dry”!

Yep, like everyone else, I very much dislike this product. I can stick it in the wettest soil imaginable and it still reads ''dry'' (ever since I first bought it).

Works well for me

I bought this unit a month ago and it has been a back saver in the garden. Our weather has been very dry, but using this meter has helped me decide where I need to water or not. It saved my pepper plants by showing me that I was overwatering them. Not sure why other people are having trouble with it.

Just WASTED the time AND gas to buy this hoping that maybe I might get lucky and be an exception to the majority of negative reviews. I was WRONG. Tested it right away on a spider plant I just watered to the point of almost overflowing. I intentionally DRENCHED the soil and guess what? It read barely one notch above DRY. Piece of garbage. More time and gas wasted to return it. HELLO MR/MRS CTC BUYER... are YOU listening to YOUR customers? Drop this SKU. It's GARBAGE.

Q: How do you safely dispose of this item? Is it hazardous? I own one of these and it has stopped working. Is there mercury or something toxic in it that requires special disposal?

A: Its made of metal, copper and plastic with some solder. Safe to dispose of.

Q: Do I leave it in the soil all the time or am I supposed to stick it in every time I want to make a reading?

A: We recommend removing it, wiping it clean, and then inserting the probe into the soil for a fresh reading each time someone wants to use it.
