    First Impression

As stated by the title, this review is entirely a description of my first impression of the tool set as I have not used it yet. Background: I already have a multitude of mastercraft tools purchased from Canadian Tire, most of which I am happy with - performance, and construction wise. These are my primary tools kept in my work shop for applications such as automotive, lawn mower repair, and some minor construction - sheds, decks, etc. My work space is separated from my house, so I recently came upon the problem of having to use a variety of small hand tools inside of my home. I found it inconvenient to have to make a few trips back and forth to my work shop just for a few tools - which is why I decided to purchase this 150 piece set made by Skil. I did some quick research online about Skil, and had observed that they've been around for quite some time. I read the reviews on here about the product, and decided to purchase the set on clearance for around $45. After opening everything up, and removing the plastic seals, I checked out the tools themselves. Most of the tool handles are made of cheap plastic, and the metals for the tools appear to be of a much softer material than my Mastercraft counterparts. Components on the adjustable wrench feel loose, and there is play in the wrench jaws when set, while the grips have some functionality, the channel lock pliers grips were already starting to come off just in the box. Overall, I feel the set is cheaply made and of poor quality for what you can get for a little extra money in buying other brands as with most things - you get what you pay for. I don't believe the regular price for this tool set is very fair for the quality of tools. I am not completely dissatisfied with my purchase, as I think this tool kit will be of great use around the house, and save me the effort of going back and forth to my workshop. If you're looking for a cheap set to have around the house, buy this on sale. Otherwise, invest in a good set of tools. We will see how this set withstands the test of time.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Good quality for the price.

The set has all the basic tools needed for a first time tool set. We bought this set for our daughter that is away in University so she can fix the little things that always seem to come up. The only issue I saw was that the clips to hold the kit closed would be better on the bottom half of case so they stay "open" until the 2 halves of the case are closed.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Perfect For Basic Household Needs

I have had this for about 2 years now and has come in handy so many times. It has all the basic tools you would need to do things around the house. Plenty of furniture has been assembled with it's assistance. I love that there's so many tools in one easy to store tool box. It's varied tools and compactness has come in handy when going to friends houses to fix little things here and there. Got this on sale but would buy again at full price or maybe would go with the 190 something piece one. I think everyone that doesn't have a handy person in their life should have one of these toolsets!

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Mon garçon a reçu ce coffre d'outils. Pour un débutant, c'est parfait. Il a tous les petits outils de base dont un bricoleur occasionnel peut avoir besoin.
