It's great except...... For the attachment

I just got this sander today and thought it was wonderful...... except the extension plate. I used it for 5 minutes and the clips melted and the extension will no longer work. It won't stay locked in and can't be used. Im not understanding why this is the only extension not made out of the thicker black material. Very disappointed

I liked the attachments

I bought it for my woodworking and refinishing furniture. The plate for the sanding attachments wouldn't stay locked in place. I blamed myself for not attaching properly and wore the place where it clips into place because when I turned on the sander the plate would fly off. So I went and bought another one. It done the same thing. The attachments are great but the plastic piece that holds the attachments is not so great.

Sand Paper impossible to buy

I love the sander but if you want sandpaper in specific grits then you are out of luck. Sand paper only comes in packs containing multiple grits or just 60 grit. If you want to do fine finishing with 240 and 320 then good luck finding a supplier

Love the different pads (8 sanders in one)

1st one I bought tabs broke on baseplate. 2nd one I bought after 2 times of changing pads I was unable to remove baseplate. 3rd one I bought tabs broke on baseplate and sander. I used all these only a couple of times for just a few minutes each time before, all went wrong. Please fix the tabs with something that will not break so, easily. I do not recommend this sander.

Q: What are the replacement sanding pads? It takes different types and sizes of pads, which ones are the replacements for this sander? Does Canadian Tire sell them?

A: Thank you for your question. The Skil Octo sander has a hook and loop backing pad. The main backing pad is not replaceable, however the front triangular backing pad can be replaced. The part number for the triangle backing pad is 2610941074.
