Holes in the barrier, clamps/clips garbage

Small holes everywhere... we didn't see most of them and now our lawn is flooded. If there are any holes, it just can't freeze fast enough and the water just keeps pouring out. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT

The good, the bad and the ugly

I am very pleased about the fact the kit was on sale at a very reduced price and the fact the kit came with a skate trainer, flooding wand and a hockey net (all useful items for the awesome sale price). For this alone I would tell a friend to buy it but with a warning. Beyond the extras the rest leaves something to be desired. The liner frame pieces assemble easily but we were missing two long frame pieces as well as one corner connector piece right from the start from an unopened box. Even with reducing the size of the rink size and leaving the missing corner off the higher corner things went from bad to worse. The liner went in with trouble as the clips are not designed well enough to hold the liner even when empty. They popped off many times during install and also while it was filling. Even with a strong snow wall all the way around and weights to help hold the liner edges up while filling the water drained right through the liner as others complained about. Even any small low spots in the liner drained right through. A serious disappointment and a waste of hours of filling. Doing it old school with packed snow as a base and the snow walls and no liner would have been more rewarding and more successful.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Don't buy this

This is not worth buying. it's been -25c for days and there are so many holes that I can't even get the water to stay long enough to freeze. I took great care not to make any holes in the liner (except near the top of the wood boards where I stapled it - above the water line). Even with that there is more water outside the rink than inside. This liner is garbage, don't waste your time.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Stay away!!! Not worth the box it comes in

worst prefab rink on the market. Poly liner is too thin. First fill sort of worked until holes started appearing in the tarp. It leaked out about 15% of the water. Next day I tried to top up but the new ice and the cold cracked the liner even further. I am now two weeks in and used approximately 3 times the water to get the rink to 90% full with one corner still without any ice. My yard is a 5 % slope. Also the PVC clips (PVF pipe cut in half) crack in the cold under the stress put on it by the water and ice and will no longer work. If I could return it I would but since that is impossible I have to try and make it work.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 2 of 2 Questions

Q: Would it be possible to join 2 rinks in a box together for a larger surface?

1 Answer
  • A: Yes, 2 options to do so. Option 1 – Lay out the rinks side by side and fill with water. After water has frozen keep adding layers of ice using the hand held flooding tool. You will possibly need to fill any small gaps between the rinks with a snow/slush mixture and then flood overtop. Option 2 – Assemble the frame into one large rink and join the tarps of each rink together using a waterproof tape (not included). Continue with the remaining instructions.
