The Nitrate/Nitrite test comes with a strip that will change color after 1 minute and has a chart to compare. Fast results and easy to use.
The LEAD test can detect levels bellow 15 ppb. (It's the main reason I got this test since there are lead pipes in Montreal)
The lead test comes on a strip that you have to leave in a measured amount for 10 minutes. You have a black and white printed paper to compare dark or light lines that will appear. Under this is claims that if the results are positive your water MAY contain lead or pesticides are a toxic level. Mine came out very light so it says the test is invalid... I followed it, it's not complicated.
It will tell you if there is lead or pesticides in your water but you won't know if it's extremely low or close to zero or if it's dangerous to consume. Only once you open the package you can read in fine prints: "Rainfresh Water Quality Test Kit Model WC2 is a screening test and can not be used to certify water as safe or unsafe for drinking. This test provides approximate results ONLY when used in strict accordance with instructions."
Rated 1 starts only because the nitrate test is good and mine came without the pesticides strip...
Don't waste your money on this.

Hello, it does seem that you have not run the test correctly and, as indicated in the instruction sheet, the result is considered invalid. We will be happy to send you another test kit at no charge to verify your results. Please call Rainfresh customer service directly.
The WC2 is an excellent screening tool to detect lead, Nitrates and Nitrites in water. Screening tests are a fast and economical way of knowing whether these contaminants are present. If the test indicates a positive result, confirmation from a certified laboratory is highly recommended followed by installation of an appropriate filtration system if necessary.

Q: Chlorine? Does this test kit test your Chlorine levels? What about for bacteria?

A: Rainfresh WC2 (62-2002) Water Test Kit is a do-it-yourself home water test kit that tests your water for lead, pesticides, nitrates and nitrites. It is not a chlorine test kit. If you would like to test your water for bacterial contamination, you can use Rainfresh WaterCheck Test Kit (62-1012) which detects the presence or absence of coliform and E. coli bacteria and is sensitive enough to detect even a single colony forming unit per 100 mL of water.
