Proform XP 185U Upright Bike

$399.99

Product Details

  • The XP 185U upright bike features a convenient Step Thru™ design so you can easily get on and off the bike. Semi-recumbent bikes tend to be easier to climb onto compared to upright models, which is great for those with mobility problems. The seat on a recumbent bike supports the lower back and will therefore help those with back issues

  • This bike features 10 separate levels of magnetic resistance. The resistance is controlled through digital controls on the console. This bike uses SMR™ (Silent Magnetic Resistance), where there is nothing touching the actual flywheel, allowing for very smooth and very quiet operation. Resistance is altered by bringing the magnets closer or further away from the flywheel, which is done electronically by simply pressing a button

  • A drive system is a way of transmitting mechanical power from one place to another. A belt drive passes over a gear with grooves, where the grooves of this belt mesh with the grooves of the gear. When the gear (or wheel) is turned by a user pedalling the bike, the gear pulls the belt and puts mechanical force into the system. This bike uses a V-belt because it is quieter than a chain drive

  • The importance of the flywheel is to emulate the effect of cycling on a real bike. If there was no weight to cycle against, there would be no resistance. Cycling against the flywheel allows you to feel the same resistance as you would normally face when riding an actual bike. This bike has a flywheel that weighs 10.36 lbs (4.7 kg)

  • The seat can be moved closer to the pedals or pushed further away using an adjustment knob. The large seat provides comfort for your bottom and the backrest provides extra support for your lower back. Integrated transport wheels help you conveniently transport this bike from room to room

  • The handlebars feature a dual-grip Easy Pulse™ heart rate monitor. This allows the user to monitor their heart rate with sensors that are built in to the handlebars, ensuring you are in the right training zone for your goals. The pedals are weighted on the bottom to ensure that the pedal will always face up and you can get your foot back in place quickly and easily. They also feature adjustable straps that can be custom fitted around your foot

  • Bike includes a target pacer, which has an indicator light that flashes when it's time to work a little harder or slow down to reach your goals. Its large LCD window with three display areas make it easy to read your speed, time, distance, pulse and calories burned. Two heart rate workouts to help you stay in your target heart rate zone, increasing the resistance when you need to raise your heart rate and decreasing your resistance when you need to lower it

  • Total product weight of 81 lbs (36.74 kg) with a maximum user weight capacity of 250 lbs (113 kg)

  • Dimensions: 40 L x 21 W x 49" H (101.6 x 53.3 x 124.5 cm)

    Good Value Product

I recently purchased this bike and have had problems right after completing the assembly. I contacted ICON Canada right away and they have been INCREDIBLY RESPONSIVE. They've even sent a technician to my home to resolve the rubbing noise the belt was making. The technician has identified a part that needs to be replaced (tensioner not aligned properly, also console), and will re-order and re-install once delivered. I haven't seen this kind of support or service anywhere else, especially this day and age when everything is made and assembled overseas and warranty is minimized. Functionality wise, the bike is really quiet (NOW) and I like many of the features that would normally only be available for much more expensive machines that I've used at the gym, e.g., two way adjustable seating, rolling wheels for easy transport between rooms, pulse sensor, and iFit compatibility. Overall, I think this is great product and would recommend it to anyone, especially when its on sale. Just make sure you build it right away and notify ICON if you have any problems. A great team they have over there.

    Do not Purchase

After about 1 hour of riding time, the pedals became impossible to turn. After an hour of struggling to remove the cover, it was obvious that the belt was off the track and twisted. Fortunately, my husband is handy and was able to modify the tracking by adding a washer to keep the belt on track. It appears that the wheel is warped or faulty in some way. This type of repair should not have to happen and is not for the faint of heart! Wish I had read the reviews before purchasing as it appears this is a common problem with this product. Do not purchase unless you enjoy 3 hours of repair.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Horrible, don't purchace this

I used this bike for 20 minutes and the resistance belt broke. Warranty for this product is through the Pro-Form company, not Canadian Tire, and the customer service is awful. We still haven't been able to have the bike repaired, despite two weeks of contacting the company. Very, very unimpressed. Waste of money.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Très bon achat! Utilisation agréable. On peut perdre aisément 500 calories par jour. Le seul petit point négatif est le siège. Je le trouve trop incliné à l'avant. Il n'est pas ajustable.

    • A: No. After one hour of use, the belt came off the track. Took 3 hours to repair ourselves and this type of repair was not easy or for the faint of heart.

    • A: just bought this 3 days ago. It also did not have IFIT card. Went through the box 3 times. I called the 1-888 number, and they will mail me one. From the sound of the operator, she already new what I was going to ask before I did. As soon as I mentioned the bike, she knew I was looking for the IFIT card. Very helpful. Took 5 minutes. Said it will be mailed within 5 days.

Q: Resistance much too high and blocking. Since 2 weeks the resistance is much too high, even at 1. It blocks, and it's almost impossible to pedal. What could be the problem, and how to fix it?

    • A: After one hour of use, the belt locked up. After removing the cover (took 1 hour and was very difficult to do) it was obvious the belt had come off the track. Unless you are very proficient with repairs, this would be very difficult to repair yourself.

Q: Scraping noise when I pedal Just purchased bike, was working great, now theres a scraping noise when I pedal (per revolution). Peddling backward the scraping noise stops, but going forward it starts again. Any ideas whats happened, how to fix it?

    • A: Mine started doing that right before the belt broke. I have no idea why it does it in one direction and not the other. It is as if it catches the plastic for the magnet going one direction but just pushed it going the other (based on what I can tell from opening it). I don't know if the plastic piece that it is now catching moved when the belt broke. I'd look into exchanging it.

Q: What does distance mean on the readout

    1 Answer
    • A: Stev Distance on your readout would be the theoretical measurement for how many miles or kilometers you have ridden while on the upright bike. Email us if you need more information at ce@ProForm.com. Thanks - ProForm
