Q: Can i apply it to painted metal? Does the metal have to be clean or can i put it over the paint thats on my car already.
9 years agoA: Yes, but do as if you're on a paint job on your car. I have used it successfully under the hood of my 10-yr old Ford Escape where just every seam, edge or spotweld started to rust through the original paint. It still looks quite good after two winters. You need to get most rust off, without necessarily going to the bare metal. It needs something solid to adhere to, or it will peel over time. I lightly sanded the painted areas and "deburred" the sharp edges and corners, as paints generally move away from edges. Then a good cleaning of the surfaces to remove dust and grease. I used acetone. Then put at least two coats of POR, ideally waiting for the first coat to still have some tackiness for the second coat to stick better. The principle being to create a layer that is hermetic to oxygen and moisture.

Q: Can this be used to coat the inside of a small gas tank?
a year agoA: I wouldn't use any paint on the inside of a gas tank. Gas is oil, it will keep it clean.

a year agoA: Yes, I painted my chocks and some went on the rubber bushing, once dried it came off easily.

Q: Does this hold up in wheel wells. I have a gmc truck with a little rust starting and was going to sand down to metal then put this on the wheel well. Wondering if that will hold or should I put an undercoating on over top or do any more prep work?
6 years agoA: POR-15 Gloss Black is a permanent Rust Preventive Coating for application on bare or rusted metal that has been cleaned and prepped using our water based Cleaner Degreaser and Metal Prep. POR-15 is UV sensitive and will require top coating if exposed to direct sunlight. Not much of the inside wheel well will be in sunlight but our Rubberized Undercoating would be an excellect choice if you decide to top coat.
