I acquired this pump about three years ago as a backup for a warranty replacement pump. The replacement pump lasted about 2 and a half years. So, last year, I ran this pump for about 5 months. This spring, the pump lasted only an additional one month before tripping the GFCI.
Upon subsequent inspection of the sealed unit, it was badly rusted from the bearing area.
This must have been the worst possible design for a pond pump. I recommend that we check the country of origin to make sure that we acquire a more reliable manufacturer.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Pond Pump model no.062-3521-4
This was a replacement number 3 for previous pond pumps that failed during warranty period. Since this new style pump is a replacement for the old model I assumed that the bearing problems of the old mode had been addressed.
Bear in mind that all this pump does is run for 12 hours per day and pumps up 3 ft head to a free flowing waterfall. Also this pump is only in the pond from May to September and is removed and stored over winter. This model says it has a 3 year
warranty but according to my local Canadian Tire store since this was a replacement for the other previous failed units done in 2016 and now it is 2018 the 3 year warranty does not apply as only a 2 year exchange warranty is given for a free replacement pump.
So Canadian Tire why is this replacement pump so poor quality? and
this pump has not run for 12 months since it was put in my pond but you will not replace it?

Poor quality. Do not buy.

Bought this pump in April 2016. In May, 2016, it started tripping the GFI. Not worth the money. You need to build a crib to keep it off of the bottom. Silly design. Do not buy.
A: This pump is not safe to use for drinking water.

Q: Can this pump be used for applications that require back pressure such as pressure washer
I intend to use it on a appliance that require a minnimum of 2.5 GPM and minimum sustained pressure of 25 psi.
1 Answer
A: This pump would not be suitable for the this type of application. The maximum pressure that this pump can develop is approximately 10.5 – 11 psi. The pump can handle short periods of back pressure but prolonged periods will cause the motor to be overworked and possibly overheat and will ultimately result in pump failure.
Most utility/general purpose pumps will not be able to develop the pressure you are looking for. A better solution may be a centrifugal pump which will develop much higher pressures and can handle back pressure better.

Q: where is the airlock hole?
I some times run the pump a tad long and it causes the pump to air lock. Its installed in a hard to reach area and annoying to tip it over.

1 Answer
A: The pump in question does not have a pre-drilled weep hole to prevent the possibility of air lock.
You should drill a 1/8” hole in the discharge pipe or hose 2-3” above where the pipe or hose connects to the pump. This will prevent the vapor lock you are encountering.

Q: Fountain Head
The owner's manual for this pump (062-3521-4) refers to a fountain head that is sold separately. Please tell me how to order this part.

1 Answer
A: Canadian Tire carries a fountain head/kit (59-7689) which should be available in most stores. You would also need to purchase hoses, clamps, fittings, etc. to hook up to the fountain head. Every installation would be different so additional materials and accessories needed will vary.

Q: Can the water flow be adjusted ? by adding part(s) ? & if so what parts would I have to purchase ?
The water flow is too much for our waterfall
12 years ago
1 Answer
A: There is no switch on the pump to control the flow rate. The only way flow rate can be affected is by raising the lift of the pump. The flow rate decreases as you raise the outlet of the pump. So at 25’ using a hose or pipe straight up, the flow rate will be significantly less vs a pipe 2’ off the ground.

Q: I purhcased this pump and am hoping i can connect my hose to pump water out of my pool when needed ... is this possible ...

A: 062-3521 is not the ideal pump for the application you have suggested. It doesn’t have a threaded end for a garden hose. A pool pump or a utility pumps have hoses or threaded ends to accommodate a standard garden hose. We do not sell a threaded adapter for this pump so a different hose will have to be used or a different pump that includes a threaded end will have to be used.

Q: Auto shut off?
Does this item shut itself off when it runs dry or does it burn out?

1 Answer
A: This pump is primarily designed for continuous operation such as a waterfall or fountain. It can also be used for other miscellaneous jobs such as draining a pool but it must be manually turned off. If you need a pump with auto shut off try 62-3569.
