Did Not Work

It didn't work. I followed instructions to a tee and tried it 4 times in a row and the tab never stuck. The last time it stuck and I waited 24 hours before connecting the wire. Not sure when it came off again, but it was before the next day

Disappointing product.

Tab fell off Jeep Wrangler in less than one year. Not good enough. Lower the price on this bad product. Should be $6 not $20. At least I wouldn't care as much if the price was reasonable.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Vaseline would have been stickier.

Read and followed instructions to a T to stick the tab back on and it was useless, the "glue" was like water - not sticky in the slightest. Highly recommend it if you enjoy utter disappointment and wasting money, but if not then I would suggest not buying this.

Disappointing results

I purchased this item to repair the wires that had come disconnected from the glass on the rear window defroster. I followed the directions twice. It did not adhere to the glass, like the product packaging claimed. I am disappointed in the product and would not recommend using this product for repairing disconnected wires.

hello Leroy, thank you for sharing your feedback on the Permatex Rear Window Defogger Repair Kit. Adhering the rear window defogger tab can be tricky. The instructions indicate that ideal temperatures should be between 10°C to 24°C (50°F to 75°F). This specialized adhesive maintains proper electrical conductivity. Additives that would allow the adhesive to cure work best in the stated temperature range. AS well properly preparing the area to be bonded is extremely important for both creating a successful bond and to restore electrical conductivity. A full cure requires 24 hours, and maintaining the optimal temperature range is best during the cure period. Please feel free to reach out to us with any further comments or questions, visit: https://www.permatex.com/contact/. Thank you.

Worked Perfectly

I purchased this product approximately 2 months ago and followed the instructions step by step. I even watched some other videos and read other reviews/suggestions with the best ones being: shake the paint bottle extensively, paint the line thicker than the grid that comes with the product (not great looking but works) and clean the broken line section(s) with 100% alcohol, if possible. I did all of the above and used masking tape to make my lines a little thicker and have tried it several times in the last 2 months and the rear defroster works perfectly. Also make sure nothing touches the inside of the glass, risking future damage to the lines

Questions

Q: Is it normal to have a hot spot where the repair paint was applied to the grid line?

2 Answers
  • A: If you have really hot spot then you may want to add layers or make it a bit wider to reduce resistance. if you had a really long gap you may add a piece of thin wire with this conductive paint

Q: I have to redo basically all the lines on a 1970s Beetle. Is there enough material here for the whole grid?

2 Answers
  • A: No, it has enough for maybe 3 inches worth. You have a small bottle for line coating and there is a recommended 3 coats on a segment. Even with the cardboard guide, included, it is difficult to keep the brush lines neat. The guide line is also too large.

Q: How many inches would this kit repair? How can i tell where the repairs are needed? Thank you for your help :o).

  • A: you need to use a voltmeter or multimeter set for 12 Volts. touch the sensors to two ends of a line, if there is no current, the line is broken in between.
