Checked three; all have a crack in the stand :(

I bought this knife set, but the wooden stand had a slight crack. when I returned it, I checked two other sets and both had the same defect. I wonder if the wood cracks as it dries. The knives looked solid and sharp, but I cannot speak how well they worked. I returned the set and am hoping to find an intact set at a different Canadian Tire, or a similar set elsewhere. I love the design of the stand (it is sleek and does not take up much space on my counter, unlike a block.

All around great set of knives

Knives are incredibly sharp and the one piece metal design seems pretty much indestructible. Knives attach securely to the magnetic cutting block, and looks great on the counter.
