Improperly sealed

Despite its beautiful herringbone design and perfect size, the one I purchased was not sealed properly and the wood in some places has become waterlogged and pulpy from washing. I will be returning.

Placement board. Not cutting.....

Cutting boards should be free of stains and chemical additives, and finished only with food-safe mineral oil. When I brought this board home and tried to lather it in mineral oil, I was disappointed to find it completely waterproof — a clear sign it had been sealed or stained. I ended up spending about two hours sanding the entire surface before I could properly oil it. Pro tip! All cutting boards are supposed to be raw and you mineral oil them as needed! If you’re looking for a display or placement board, this might work for you. But if you need a real cutting board for kitchen use, I’d strongly recommend choosing one that isn’t saturated with stain or sealant.
