Worked for about 10 time, then not accurate

The thermometer worked for about 10 cooking.. then the reading started to be inaccurate. Chicken cooked since a while even brown crusty outside, but read 70F. doesn't recommend

Q: How do you remove the battery??

A: On the back of the thermometer is a round thing with a slot in it. If you look closely you will see two tiny padlocks, one open one closed. I put a coin in the slot and turned the round thing to the unlocked padlock image and used a knife to pop out the round thing and the gasket that holds the battery in place. After replacing the battery use the coin to turn the cover back to the locked position. Sometimes if it doesn't work I press both buttons on the front and then bang the thermometer a few times to get it going again. I don't think the battery always needs replacing. Otherwise its a great kitchen tool.

A: This thermometer cannot be calibrated. If you suspect the temperature is incorrect, try putting fresh batteries into the thermometer. You can always check the accuracy using ice water slurry: 1. Fill a cup with ice 2. Add water to cup 3. Slowly stir the ice slurry with the probe (keep probe away from the sides and bottom of the cup for better accuracy) 4. thermometer should read 32F (0C)
