⭐ FULL REVIEW
a) <<<DOG INFO>>>
Etta is a 5-year-old black Cockapoo.
b) <<<OVERALL PERFORMANCE>>>
These boots work well for daily winter walks. They keep her paws clean, mostly dry, and comfortable. Etta seems to enjoy putting them on and walking in them. The boots are waterproof for snow and light slush, though very deep puddles can still soak through.
c) <<<FIT & SIZING>>>
Sizing was easy for us. The boots can be tricky to put on initially, but once you understand the technique, they fit securely. Comfort is excellent — Etta walks naturally and doesn’t resist wearing them. Persistent, patient practice helped us find the right fit without any negative reinforcement. One tip: it’s easy to find the right size if you bring your dog into the store and try them on before buying.
d) <<<HOW TO PUT THEM ON [or at least how we do] (IMPORTANT)>>>
Prop the boot opening open so it stays round and wide.
Make sure the paw is positioned naturally, in a walking/forward-facing posture, as if your dog is standing or walking. Avoid putting it in at a weird angle or twisted sideways.
Guide your dog’s nails through the opening, making sure all toes are inside.
Pull upward on two adjacent sides of the opening, then grip around the boot with your hand and pull upward in a firm, quick motion to seat the paw fully.
Adjust the leg at the elbow and re-grip the boot, pulling upward again (secure but not uncomfortable). Proper adjustment at this stage prevents slipping during walks.
Pinch the toe area to keep the paw in place, then fasten the lower strap followed by the upper strap.
Repeat for all four legs (back legs are easier).
If a boot feels loose or shifts partway through a walk:
Stop and untie both straps completely.
Ensure the paw is in a walking/forward-facing posture.
Use the elbow and hand grip technique to seat the paw fully inside the boot.
Feel the paw at the end of the boot to ensure it is fully seated.
Firmly pinch the paw inside the boot to hold it in place.
Refasten the lower strap snugly around the pinched paw and boot.
Finally, fasten the upper strap securely.
Resume walking — the boot should now stay in place.
This process ensures comfort, proper waterproofing, secure fit, and prevents slipping. Learned through patience and practice, without negative reinforcement.
e) <<<TRACTION & SAFETY>>>
Good grip on snow and pavement. Slight slipping on icy or packed snow patches, mainly on the back legs, but no injuries. Proper fit, walking posture, and re-adjustment steps help prevent slipping.
f) <<<MOISTURE & WARMTH>>>
Works well in dry snow and light slush. On very slushy days, when the boots are removed, her paw pads can be slightly damp. Overall, the boots keep her paws warmer than walking bare feet.
g) <<<CARE & CLEANING>>>
After each walk, boots are placed on a shoe rack to dry and spot cleaned with warm, soapy water. Salt buildup around the opening cleans off easily.
h) <<<DAILY USE & DURABILITY>>>
Etta walks at least two 30-minute walks per day and has worn these boots on longer outings of 2+ hours while fully geared up (jacket and a different hair bow each day). She has worn these boots consistently throughout this winter season, for about 60 days, and they are still going strong. Some days she wears them twice; other days once, with a second walk using another pair if these become too wet due to warmer winter weather.
i) <<<EXTRAS>>>
Reflective bands are very visible at night. Being able to bring your dog into the store to try on sizes before buying is very helpful. This ensures you find the correct fit the first time.
j) <<<FINAL THOUGHTS>>>
These boots require patience and practice, but once you get used to them, they are reliable, comfortable, and help keep winter walks safe and enjoyable. Proper adjustment, walking posture, gripping, and strap placement make a big difference — all learned through persistence and patience, without negative reinforcement.
